   I read an article where jared said he wrote this song as he was in south africa and saw the bad living conditions of the poor people in the slums or suburbs in contrast to the life that rich people in the big cities are living. Beautiful lie means, that there's only a beautiful facade...and a synonym for facade is face...hide behind an empty face...that means that they want only to pretend a nice appearance for the tourists and in reallity thousands of people are dying because they've got nothing to eat...

   I think this song is based off of all America, or the world in general, and how we choose to ignore what is really going on around us. Like how we continue to ignore how we're really screwing up this world and how we're all being lied to...and we all just believe it cause we don't want to see what is really in front of us. We're all just too ignorant and stupid and shallow and scared to really see. Or at least the government is...

   I interpret the song along the lines as (above). It about surronding ones self with some sort of facade or 'lie' and is about your manageing to convince you and those around you that the life you are living is 'perfect' and 'beautiful' when really you are in complete denial about the fact that you are truly unhappy.

   I think it’s about someone who’s raised in a strict religious background and culture and as he grows up and sees the real world he struggles with the desire to follow the pull of the carefree secular lifestyle America offers, and the guilt he feels like he’s abandoning his heritage and the truth and God and his family and his values if he chooses to do what he feels is fun and enjoyable and he thinks he wants….. (but I may be biased in that)

   I think it's about someone's self conciousness not allowing them to break free from the lies they tell themsleves in order to fulfill a false life that doesn't serve them but serves others. It causes them them grief and desperation for acceptance when they truly don't accept themselves. Thus making the acceptence a beautiful lie which results in full cirlce facade.

   This song is about life itself being a beautiful lie that we all live. We fool ourselves into believing in death. Life is a game we play. It's an illusion, a dream state and when we awaken we realize we had been lying to ourselves the entire time about who we really are. It's quite a beautiful lie indeed...

    I think it's about people trying to hide themselves from the truth that the Earth is dying (The part where it goes "end of the world"), and that people know that the Humans are destroying the Earth but they don't want to accept it so they lie to themselves that everything's okay (A beautiful lie)

    Global warming is a lie. It distracts people from what's really going on and what's really important. It gives people "something" to worry about. When I was a kid,they talked about a possible "ice age" coming. Now it's "global warming".

    I would say it is about managing some sort of self image in which one includes lies to cover up imperfections. These lies are believed in and slowly become who the person is. He also refers to these lies to be "just a game". Showing that you can choose to be whoever you want to be as long as you believe in your lies. Also, refering to the lies as beautiful shows how perfect these lies are to believe.
