I think that this song is about everything that is going on in our lives and in this world, all the troubles, all the pain, all the darkness that is around us. What I think Jared is saying in this song is that he's not just gonna accept the way the world is. "A warning to the People, the Good and the Evil, this is war." He's saying that he will fight against all that is holding him back from reaching his dreams, against everything that keeps him trapped, and he is encouraging everyone else to do the same, to strive for the dreams we hold in our hearts, to break free from our prisons, to fight for what we believe in. And the most important part in this song is faith. "To the edge of the Earth, it's a brave new world, it's a BRAVE NEW WORLD!!!" As much as it sounds like Aldous Huxley, in this context, I think it speaks to what we as the human race truly yearn for: an age free of darkness, free from pain, free from discord, free from sin, and a brave new world where all of our hopes and dreams are fulfilled and even more, something we cannot even begin to imagine. And Jared really hammers this home in the final lyrics: "A BRAVE NEW WORLD!!! THE WAR IS WON!!! THE WAR IS WON!!! A BRAVE NEW WORLD!!!" Me being a Christian, I take this to mean that when this age and everything that has defined it passes away, we who do believe and who have faith in the Lord, will stand on the cusp of eternity, free from sin and pain and darkness, redeemed in the sight of the Father, and we will shout, "A BRAVE NEW WORLD!!! THE WAR IS WON!!! THE WAR IS WON!!! A BRAVE NEW WORLD!!!" That's how I see this song.

This song is about never giving up hope. Always fight for what u believe in or ur dreams would just fade away. Leto wants to prevent a future where dreams are shattered, he wants people to be optimistic- ' Raise ur hand toward the sun' - metaphor for ur dreams

This song is Leto's adaptation of Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World". The title, and the quote from this song come from William Shakespeare's "The Tempest", being "O, brave new world, which has such people in it." The novel is about a dystopian future where people are brainwashed and drugged into thinking the way they live (which would appear immoral by most people today, with drug use and casual orgies) is right. Leto is saying that we must "go to war" against such a future where people have no freedoms or free thought. If one looks at the way society is heading today, one can see that we are going in that direction. Leto is warning us of such a future. By the time Leto gets to the bridge, the tone is showing hope that we will see the error of our ways when he says "I do believe in the light, raise your hands towards the sun".

It's plain and simple. You fight or you die trying. No matter what problems you face, you rise up to the challenge and do whatever it takes.

It’s not about how bad war is like so many are writing. That’s their interpretation. This is what I found:
“‘Leto told MTV News: "The song is really about conflict, and the album really is about it too: the inevitability of conflict, the blessing of conflict and what we can all learn from it. We've certainly had our fair share of it. So for the 'This Is War' video, we wanted to explore another side of it. So we decided to portray soldiers in conflict."’

After a few times through I interpreted the lyrics to be a message about living in the moment and not taking anything for granted as it can slip away in an instant just like a soldiers life while fighting in a war

I say that this sings means that, if you fight me, I'll fight back. At least that's what I got out of is when I first heard it.

The song is showing how bad war is and it hurts everyone like they listed. “We will fight to the death” means that we will all die if we keep fighting each other in war. War must be stopped before the human race is wiped out. And all the innocent people who had no say in it must pay the ultimate price for their government’s actions.

This song was written around the time 30STM was in a legal battle with their label. They shot a documentary on the matter. Leto doesn't seem to be fond of that label or most labels in general, which are owned by only a handful of big companies. Throw a conspiracy twist on this a little bit. 30STM is at war with the label and most likely against the music industry as a whole, which have *ahem* questionable ideologies. The song bridges with "I do believe in the light... raise your hands toward the sun... the war is won...". In my interpretation, this is Leto's sardonic way of saying who the victor was, and that associating himself ("we") with the victor was the safest option he had.

One can also put a conspiracy twist on their other song "Northern Lights", which to me slaps you around with the above point.

3.This song can be classified as a protest song as it is protesting war.
4.The message of this song is that we we don't end war, war will end us, because we will destroy ourselves by fighting.
5.The mood of the song is hopeful, but pessimistic. Examples of this are: "A warning to the people The good and the evil This is war","I do believe in the light Raise your hands up to the sky The fight is done The war is won Lift your hands Towards the sun","I believe in nothing Not in peace and not in war".
    6. I chose this song because the reality of it is so true. It attracted my attention because the words are so true and it tells the truth about what is going to happen to humanity if we don't change our ways.
    7. The music video helps the song get the protest message across because of the images of political/powerful leaders and the words that describe them. The military weapons and vehicles also help with the protest message.

The first things that struck me about this song when I listened to it was then repeated phrase "Brave New World" which of course made me think of the Aldous Huxley novel. "Brave New World" in the book referred to a new society which was highly artificial, blinded and obsessed with consuming and hedonistic pleasures and there was a constant battle between truth (and reality) and what people believed (or were made to believe via government control and mood altering drugs). This society worshiped Henry Ford, the inventor of mass production and the assembly line (and that's why they worshiped him). I think Jared is saying "Its a Brave New World" stating that society has arrived at a point similar to that of the fictional society in the book and that "This is War" because we are fighting back to reclaim a better society which is more truthful and not based on artifical, selfish, meaningless things, hence the song it leads into (100 Suns). Since he states "I do believe in the light, raise your hands up to the sky The fight is done, war is won, lift your hands toward the sun
toward the sun, toward the sun, the war is won" right before the lead into "100 Suns" makes me think that he's saying we'll win the battle against a fake, meaningless society by its very destruction (reference the "100 Suns till we part" line and its interpretation).

the way that I see this song is that in war everyone has a role but that's how it is but you can fight as much as possible as it states fight to the death. that on both sides good and evil things have a role. that the war will end to and it explains war. this song in my opinion is a very good song and this song has meaning then other song you hear now a days.

I think it's about the war every one of us goes thru. Stuff like guilt, passion, failure, disappointment, etc. We try to fight against it, but deep down inside we know we can't; "We will fight to the death."

its clearly the warning for the new world order. note the (alien) like activity its not aliens is it? its military. and the way it flashes back to world war 2, well thats bc the bevarian illuminati and the american illuminati tend to play a human chess game with our unsuspecting soldiers. at the end where the pyramid is shown thats them saying the illuminat will use our millitary to fight a war against anyone who doesnt believe in wat they do. and where they say lift you hands to the sun, well that is them lifting their hands to horus the sun god aka the all seeing eye aka lucipher aka satan! . . . need i go on?

War is the end of humanity, the progression and evolution of war can only eventually spawn a superweapon that will without a doubt erase all life on earth one day.
and the only cure is to stop war.
