Finale Lyrics

Don't you go, we need you here
You'll brighten up this shitty year
Well, congratulations on your bit of success
We can't wait to see what you do next

Come outside, come outside
You fell over, now you're high
You've been outside, been...

It's about the high expectations people have of you when you become famous. You do one good thing and you're expected to do it even better again and again. It can be hard to do this, because maybe that was your best, but the people don't accept that. The stress of that can also get to people, trying their best to stay in the spotlight and not fade into obscurity.

My interpretation of this song is more of a happy song. People are proud of all of AJR's work and "Can't wait to see what they do next." But I think what the chorus means, is completely different. It's AJR's fans asking for a certain type of music, and Jack is just kinda saying "no." He'll make whatever he wants.

It's definitely about the high expectations put on some people, but when it says "come outside, come outside. You fell over and now you're high" i don't get that part

I dont know why, but my dad thought it was about some kid being on the streets and doing drugs and coming back to his parents for help, but they expect more from him. He proves himself, but it was too late. Kinda not what I think but...

I guess, simply put: if you can do it once, then why can't you do it again? If you did it good, why can't you do it better?

The truth is that you can. The fact that you can do it once and good, means you can do it again but better. This is because there's always room for change, and that change always exist either for the worse or for the better.

I believe the song is about a personal worry between the band members that their popularity will die out after this album. The lyric “If it’s my final album” indicated this. He also says “I think my curtains falling”. The following will analyze this lyric
    “They wanted heaven from me,
    I gave them hell,
    now they want something bigger,
    I’m overwhelmed”
As AJR has talked about in the past, after releasing their song “I’m ready” as time went on, they became worried they would be considered a one hit wonder, but then they released the album “The click” in which their carrier took off, and became absolutely enormous. But as they are writing the album “Neotheater” they are realizing that this may be their final album because they are worried it won’t be as popular as The Click. If this album doesn’t blow up, they will lack funding for another one. For them, the pressure is really on them to top off their previous album... but how can you top off something that got in top 10. Amazingly, they ended up getting spot number 1 for some time, so needless to say, this isn’t their last album.
