   According to [https://www.songfacts.com/facts/alanis-morissette/head-over-feet], Alanis explained in her own words that she was experiencing real love for the first time and wrote this song as a response to the experience. I was hoping to find specifics about the parts of the video where she stopped lip syncing to the lyrics. It may have been for performance and effect, but it's probable that she was experiencing the emotions of her own words and was just trying to keep herself together. I have some emotions tied to this song of experiences and memories from time of its original release. This song portrays a sweet story that many never live, but for those who do, I hope it helps you reminisce about good times.

   The video is telling!
   Its a very dark song!
   At best its a prostitute giving a hand job and trying to look engaged while really not giving a shit and thinking about other things.
   The acting eyes show engagement. The reality is disinterest and distraction.
   The words are what the client is feeling, not what the woman is expressing.
   An even darker interpretation would be the distorted way a rapist remembers a rape.
   Either way, the words are not real and are a fictin vicariously placed into a woman's mouth by a man who is abusing her one way or another.
   This is why the chorus is not sung by Alanis.
   Its in HIS mind and nowhere else!
   Powerful and dark!

   I teally believe this song could be about a road to recovery story. Shes a recovering addict. "I had no choice, but to hear you"
   Its someone who cares for her, her lover or her current partner on crime, boyfriend, in the end shes lying in a bed in a rehab center, from an overdose. She cant run away now, she has no choice but to listen or to hear him "state his case" about how shes gonna end up killing herself should she continue the road shes going down. Hence her words "I thought about it" and "Your the best listener that ive ever met, your so much braver, then i gave you credit for". If you have EVER tried to tell an addict or voice your concerns in regards to what they're doing to themselves is wrong then your one very brave person because most will skitz out at you and tell you to F$#k off!
   "You've already won me over, in spite of me."
   So she knows she is a pain in the ass, lies, cheats n gets what she wants n he still stands by her. So she finds herself helpless because deep inside she does love him but has tried to remain distant but after the love and care he shows her while sge is recovering, "Dont be surprised if i love you, for all that you are, I couldnt help it, its all your fault." She finds herself falling in love even tho she was already with him shes never been treated this way, "you treat me like a princess, im not used to liking that. You ask how my day was. ."
   Your not gonna find many 'loving' junkies out there... more so just possessive, controlling and obsessive partners in the drug game. "Ive never felt, this healthy before." Once withdrawals are iver, you finally start to feel healthy again.. not drawn out and lethargic. It really feels naturally amazing Anyway.. the rest of the song speaks for itself in my opinions anyway. Its a beautiful song and ive been a recovering addict and after it all.. i was so very VERY thankful for the ones who stood by my side til the end. Thanks guys!! ☺

   Alanis had no choice but to be with this guy. The guy kept telling her he liked her and helped her a lot. If her day went wrong, the guy would be at her side comforting her. She ignores him constantly but he keeps her trust. Alanis finally realizes and opens her eyes and sees the guy really cares for her. She begins to fall in love with him and says that her door has been opened by this guy. This guy and her often get into trouble; they both lie to get out. Alanis is a decent liar but he is an amazing liar. She gets fed up with the trust and love between them; and the lies to everyone else. She tries to talk to him about it, but fails because she is very much in love with him. Alanis blames the guy and says it's his fault that she can't help, but love him. Alanis and her guy have a committed relationship; she states what took me so long to realize that I'll be happiest with you.
