Alice In Chains: Whale & Wasp Meaning
Song Released: 1995
Whale & Wasp Lyrics
-
imo the two guitars are 1- a whale, which is a metaphor for the elephant in the room (or whale for that matter). Staleys addiction. a very dark, deep, low tuned guitar is his "drowning in addiction" the higher tuned steel guitar is the wasp, which to a lot of people has something to do with the cold sharpness of coming down from a high, or a syringe. Cantrell was an odd dude so it might mean literally nothing lmao.

Struggle and redemption from sorrow and loss of hope that's just my opion but it makes sense understanding the singers personal struggle with and eventual loss with addiction and myself being a recovered and relapsed drug addict I feel I can respond or maybe I'm just echoing my own strife
-
The wasp sting the whale so it cries out but then they become friends. Every once in awhale (lol) it still cries becuase the sting still hurts a little.
