The Irony of Choking on a Lifesaver Lyrics

Stop fucking around with my emotions
I like you better when you're numb
I'm sick and tired of false devotion
Devote yourself to moving on
Just suck it up, and let it go
'Cause you're always out to get me

But you're always out to get...

a girl just wants to break off with her boyfriend but she cant because the guy is way too clingy -- "I like you better when you're numb
I'm sick and tired of false devotion
    Devote yourself to movin' on
Or suck it up and let it go
But you're always out to get me"

eventually, she's so pissed that she made reasons for him to break up. dated another guy with the intent to show off towards the clingy guy ---"You're the snake hidden in my daffodils when I'm picking flowers
That's just my luck these days
Why can't you just be happy for me?
You're the break lines failing as my car swerves off the freeway
It kind of feels like sabotage
Why can't you just be happy for
Why can't you just be happy for me?"

the clingy guy realizes her intent and goes on on a suicidal trip to force her to stay. she is now adamant to break up with the guy a 1000%. all the while the clingy guy was on on a whole another guilt trip. begging and crying in front of her. but her decision was already made. she hated him.
"You think your opinions make you savvy
Your running mouth falls on deaf ears
You say you're winning 'cause your laughin'
    Well I'm cryin' crocodile tears
Just suck it up and let it go
But you're always out to get me"

well, thats just me. sorry for the long post.

I think the song is about someone who is always out to get him whenever something good is happening in his life due to past conflict him and that person have had. The person is refusing to move on with their life and just devote their time and energy into making him miserable as possible as a result of revenge. when he says "stop fucking around with my emotions" I think he means stop trying to make me feel bad for good things happening in my life. And talking about things getting sabotaged and failing such as: "you're the snake hidden in my daffodils when I'm picking flowers" and "you're the break lines failing as my car swerves off the free way" I think the person who's out to get him is trying to ruin the good things in his life to make him miserable and upset. And he also says: "why can't you just be happy for me?" trying to reach out to this person and asking why can't they just move on with themselves and accept the fact he is doing good in his life. Mostly, the song is summed up in metaphors of the good things in his life being ruined by a toxic friend/loved one/ex that he no longer speaks or has anything to do with anymore. I don't know, that's just how I see my perspective on the song.

I think the song is about everyone who is heartbroken to move on. "Stop fucking around with my emotion." They're saying that when girl/boy entering your life and then going out and then entering, they want to just forget about that person who ruin their life. "Why can't you just be happy for me?" Is maybe because your love one is never satisfy about what you do and want you to change. Of course, we feel heart broken because of that. I think it's like that

I think that the subject of this song is anxiety or self-doubt that makes you question yourself and is constantly coming out to sabotage you, even when you start feeling like things are going to be okay. At least, that's the way I saw it.

My interpretation is that, there's this girl thar the guy is head ober heels in love with. One problem. Shes fake.So when the guy broke it off with her, "I'm sick and tired of false devotions, devote yourself to moving on" , is when she really takes notice to him. She's poisonous though (not literally) she's just there waiting to attack him while he's moving on. "Your the snake hiddwn in my daffodils when I'm picking flowers"

In all truth he wants to be friends but she doesn't want to be friends she wants control him. All he wants is for her to be happy for him and they move on. "Why can't you just be happy for me?"

In the end, he moved on and she's still trying to get him back which won't happen aha.

"It kinda feels like sabotage. Why can't you be happy for me?"
