Tin Man Lyrics

Sometimes late
When things are real
And people share the gift of gab
Between themselves

Some are quick to take the bait
And catch the perfect prize
That waits among the shells

But Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man
That...

    The intro, lines 1-8:
Typically and lawfully, a group of friends get together routinely to "shoot the breeze". Mostly likely they are men who are closely connected who enjoy each others' company. They also lean on each other for acceptance just as they are, but if they choose to fantasize, that's ok, too. But, they will very wisely set you up to check you out, and if you fall for the bait, your heart is exposed and you receive an award.

Lines 9 (new lines) to repeated lines:]
    A comparative analysis taken from
"The Wizard of Oz". Oz, the wise one, didn't give anything to the Tin Man who thought he didn't have a heart because he already had a heart.

In a nutshell, the song is saying friends don't need a reason to get together, and their conversations don't have to be that of a rocket scientist.

Friends can sit back, put their cares away, and relax in their fantasies.

The beginning sounds like tears for fears mothers talk:
A dark invitation to communicate with evil spirits at a certain time or "change in the weather; when the wind blows" perhaps "sometimes late at night" (Tin Man) why do both these songs mention at an hour when people talk?

My features form with a change in the weather
    We can
    We can work it out
My features form with a change in the weather
    We can
    We can work it out

    When the wind blows
    When the mothers talk
    When the wind blows

    When the wind blows
    When the mothers talk
    When the wind blows
    We can work it out

It's not that you're not good enough
It's just that we can make you better
Given that you pay the price
We can keep you young and tender
Follow in the footsteps of a funeral pyre
You were paid not listen now your house is on fire

Wake me up when things get started
    When everything starts to happen

My features form with a change in the weather
    We can
    We can work it out
My features form with a change in the weather
    We can
    We can work it out

When the wind blows (when the wind blows)
When the mothers talk (when the mothers talk)
    When the wind blows
When the wind blows (when the wind blows)
When the mothers talk (when the mothers talk)
    When the wind blows
    We can
Only we can work it out

    Some of us horrified
    Others never talk about it
But when the weather starts to burn
Then you'll know that you're in trouble
Follow in the footsteps of a soldier girl
It is time to put your clothes on and to face the world

Don't you feel your luck is changing
    When everything starts to happen
Put your head right next to my heart
The beat of the drum is the fear of the dark
