Amos Lee: Windows are Rolled Down Meaning
Windows are Rolled Down Lyrics
The world is born
Shoe's untied
And your soles are worn
Windows are rolled down
Sun is setting high
Windows are rolled down
I'm fixin' to die
Corn rows have companion feel
This rocky road and this steering wheel
Who do...

This is a beautiful song about revelations and hope. That's what windows mean in dreams. Passing through. To those with those sick interpretations I hope you get your minds fixed back to the love and Light that God intended. Shalom

I think this song is about a guy that was in a bad breakup with his ex girlfriend and it hurts so bad that he feels like he is dying. He takes the scenic route down the highway as he looks in the sky, he also notices the cornrows because he is riding down a country road. As he is driving, he is thinking about how bad the breakup hurts while he’s driving down the highway...

The song is about slavery, the poor black who still has nothing after being emancipated but still enslaved under Jim Crow and now under white privileged. The freed man had hoped to provide a brighter future to his children but all he really has is the ability to hit the road, windows rolled down to feel the free air, which is really all he has, as he can barely breath.

Someone apparently thinks Amos is a Santa clause and a hero and they’re going to get shoes w/o holes in them for Xmas. The fool is being called stingy. He’s brutalized sexually and then dumped out the window of a moving car. Then he meets a friend who wears cornrows in his hair and he feels like he has a companion for hunting gold diggers down.
