   It's a political criticism. It's made very evident with the last couple of lines:
   
   Oh, I hear them now
   All the religious's rhymes
   
   You're a sin, you're a sin, you're a sinner.
   
   The left isn't better
   It's just more of the same
   Condemning all these people for what they believe
   
   His point is that neither the Left wing or the Right wing are "right". They both have good and bad points and ideas, there is no righteous path to take, but if you try hard enough it is very possible to tread through life, as a centrist.

   This song is about demons. It is said in folklore that if you go to a crossroad and put an item of yours a picture of you and something else, and you bury it in the middle of the crossroad, you can summon a demon and you can make any deal with it in exchange for your soul.

   I think this song is about the struggles of living life as a Christian today.
   "To the right I could see a church. I took a step in that direction first. But to the left there was a watering hole where they were whiskey drunk and now that's where I wanna be".
   Believers of Christ try their hardest live on the "right path" where the church is, when in reality we live closer to the "left path".
   "If I was perfect, then this would be easy...... I walked through the center with no rules to guide me. I realize it's difficult, but now I can see."
   If man was perfect and free of sin, the right path would be easy to stay on. But man is sinful by nature, so we want to gravitate toward the left and enjoy life. "With no rules to guide me". That could either mean going through life without believing in Christ, or just throwing out gods rule book and doing what you want to while still trying to serve him. I think my first idea is more probable if you read the whole chorus together.

   This song is just saying that people always bash each other for the religion they choose to follow. We fight about it, but no matter what religion you choose you will be judged for it.
