Doctor Robert Lyrics

Ring my friend, I said you call Doctor Robert
Day or night he'll be there any time at all, Doctor Robert
Doctor Robert, you're a new and better man
He helps you to understand
He does everything he can, Doctor Robert

If you're down he'll...

Doctor robert was the dr who had performed surgerys on the fake paul mccartney. "he'll make you" "youll pay money just to see yourself" "works for the national health"/ government. "youre a new and better man"

Actually, the general meaning of the song is a little bit more complex (just a little!)than just about a dentist that gave them drugs one time. LOTS of people gave-or tried to give The Beatles drugs-almost on a daily basis..Lennon songs almost always have a little more deeper meaning..and the line "well..well..well.your feeling fine...well well well we'll make you.." sung in an all-too-nice fakery tone, was an indication that Lennon was on to all the "Dr Roberts" that were trying to make him feel a little too fine-and take advantage of him (listen to She Said, She Said for more of the same meaning).

It's about when John and george got drugged by their dentist. He put LSD in their coffee.

This song is about the first time John, George and Paul took LSD. Their dentist at the time, Dr. Robert, put it into their drinks during a dinner party, hence the "magic cup" reference.

Now please correct me if I am wrong but wasn't Dr. Robert the man who gave then drugs. "...My friend works for the national health, Doctor Robert..." Hmmm???
