What do you want from me? Why don't you run from me?
What are you wondering? What do you know?
Why aren't you scared of me? Why do you care for me?
When we all fall asleep, where do we go?

(Come here)
Say it, spit it out, what is it...

It's about billie asking her fans why they love her so much when shes so broken and has so much self hatred for herself. She wants to know why wer'e not scared of her and why we dont run from her. And when she sayd "did you expect me to make you my art and make you a star and get you connected?" It's a metaphor. She's asking us if we love her because we want something in return. Be cause she hates herself so much she doesnt understand why anyone else would love her.

I think she was trying to tell use that she is trying to tell us that she is being controlled buy the industry and by writing this she has made people aware and now that people know what there doing and they have less power over her. she in the song wrote I gotta sell my soul means that by signing a contract she has to do a lot of $#!t she doesn't want to do. she has no control over her self and that's getting to her, with this new life she's rich but she's just a puppet. and she wants to say that, but she cant. so in this song she says it in plain sight if your smart enough to see it.

There is one morally justified prediction to this, bury a friend by Billie Eilish. Yes the illuminati and the music industry does have a great deal on what this song means. If you know about the illuminati you should be aware that there are some sacrifices to it. One, selling your soul. Which alot of members of the music industry make this very clear in their music. Two, sacrifices.. people. "BURY a friend". If you have knowledge about this part of what you have to do then you should know that this is what she is talking about. She made it clear that the music industry is making HER the monster. When she says "the debt i owe" everything she talks about in this song are the DEBTS she owes in order for the "riches" and "amount of money" is getting in this. When she says "careful" or "its probably something that shouldn't be said out loud" is because she can't say to much of what she is really talking about. But she is saying enough/ giving enough hints in order to get her point across. In one verse it says, "Me to make you my art and make you my star and get you connected" and when it says, "but we knew right from the start that'd you'd fall apart cause im too expensive". Its clearly them talking to her, basically tell her to keep it together. Cause she has to sell her soul and do what she is told in order to not "fall apart". This song has just about everything you need to put the pieces together. Billie started off wearing fake jewelry, now she's what? Rich. In a very little amount of time. "Monster" is just an analogy used to cover up the truth of what really goes on behind closed doors when it comes to the music industry. Making about it is a big move, but with the society we have today, who even really listens to the words anymore anyways.

I know this may be wrong but I would like to share it anyway. I believe it represents a sort of slavery. the shots in her back (poison); her getting stripped; and the thoughts of suicide. What really gets to me is the ghost like pose at the very end. I don’t exactly get it but maybe because of the beginning where it looked like a ghost took control of her

I think everyone is way off... Let's get real here and use her recent vanity Fair interview as a reference. I think the song is mostly about what the music industry is doing to her. In the second verse that's clearly the higher ups talking to her. Even in the video after that part the male voice says "careful" as in watch it now you're saying too much. The whole step on glass, staple you're tounge part is an analogy for her being told to do ridiculous things that really are hurting the person or artist she wants to be. Bury a friend to the youth these days means to bury them in ur mind or forget about them like she's being told forget about ur friends. I think the bridge is the icing on the cake and proves my interpretation. How she's in debt to her god cuz she sold her soul. And concludes it with her not having control of her arms or not being able to shut her eyes when she wants to. Since she's signed her contract she "can't say no" as she says herself. If you go back to her vanity Fair interview you clearly see the industry is doing a number on her and it's not what she thought it would be like. In the question where she is asked is it all worth it, when she says yes you can tell it was sarcastic as hell and said only because she was forced to say it. I don't know maybe it's a conspiracy theory but it seems pretty clear here... She is being controlled by the industry (Illuminati if you will) and she wants to end it. She's signed over her soul and can't tell them no and it's really effecting her.

The song is in the perspective of the monster under the bed. But instead of the person on top of the bed being scared of the monster, the person is very interested in the monster. E.g. "why don't you run from me?"

I’ve been obsessed with this song since I heard it. It hits so close to home for me. That said...I don’t think she has completely turned into a monster, in fact I don’t think it’s a monster at all. I think it is a metaphor much like skeletons in the closet. She confused and conflicted. Her bad self (the monster under the bed) is asking these questions to her good self. It’s very much like Tyler Durden and the narrator from fight club. They are both one in the same, it’s just that one is a manifestation of how she views her dark side and how she’s loosing control. The imagery in the video shows it all on how her dark side is consuming or in this case, possessing her. She knows that the only way to beat it is to show it affection and care for it, while at the same time trying to keep it hidden. As the video progresses, it’s obvious she’s loosing that battle. It is an amazing and awesome depiction of someone who is suicidally I don’t think she has completely turned into a monster, in fact I don’t think it’s a monster at all. I think it is an amazing and awesome depiction of someone who is suicidally depressed. Anyone who has been at that point can attest that often times, it feels exactly like you have 2 sides, the one who wants to live and see everything getting better, and the other side that just want to submit. Finally when she ask “when we all fall asleep, where do we go”, she’s referring to the equivalent of heaven and hell if she does do what she says “I want to end me”
