Ocean Eyes Lyrics

I've been watching you
For some time
Can't stop staring
At those oceans eyes
Burning cities
And napalm skies
Fifteen flares inside those ocean eyes
Your ocean eyes
No fair
You really know how to make me cry
When you gimme those ocean...

From my perspective, this song is about someone falling for a guy. I don't really know if I have a strong interpretation of this, but she likes him because of his "sharpness" and how he can differentiate from others, like how he has a "diamond mind" and "ocean eyes". Which set him apart from others, even if she has no chance with him.

My interpretation is that a girl likes someone, and the eyes of that person basically traps them into liking them. It isn't exactly the color of the ocean eyes, but the movement of them. She could see right through the eyes, and she is obsessed with them. She becomes attached to the ocean eyes.

-A young girl who loves music...

Like I write books in my mind I think the person falls in love with this guy but he thinks she's a freak cause she has different eye colors. Everyone talks about her and they just judge her! So she wears sunglasses to cover her eye colors and the fact she cries. But the guy from the group finds her interesting and wonders what's so wrong with her? So his friends make a bet with him to try and make her fall for him! So he ends up talking to her asking her questions and starts to slowly fall for her! so, in my opinion, I think this is how I think of ocean eyes!

The Girl is in Love with a Soldier. But in his Eyes she sees the Burning Cities, the Napalm, the Flares in Combat.
He makes her cry and scares her when he looks at her and she falls into love in his eyes.
But she knows he has a hard Diamond mind; caused by their walking in a world gone blind to the horrors of war.
She falls into Love with him when she looks in his ocean eyes; but he scares her and makes her cry; because of his hard diamond mind.

"Ocean Eyes" don't exactly have to be blue eyes. Maybe it rather means that the person...crys alot? "Diamond mind" I think is meant that the person has a beautiful mind that outshines through the perspectives of other people. It's rather unique?

I believe its about Billie falling for another person but she really doesn't want to but the feelings are difficult to fight when she looks into those "ocean eyes"

I personally think this song is about Billie falling in love with someone who has really pretty blue eyes, hence the name “Ocean Eyes”. He’s not the greatest boyfriend and doesn’t treat her very well, but she’s debating whether or not to break up with him.

The girl is scared because she did something that he is not aware of and if he found out he would be mad and he doesn't know what it is but it makes his eyes seem like an ocean because he cant imagine what she hides and just makes her think hes hurting so she would feel for him, even though she is usually sad because of him this time she is sad for him.

Do you all realize your are talking about yourselves when posting your interpretation?

In fact, her brother (you all know this) wrote the song not Billie.

The song is beautiful and beautifully sung. It is not as deep as you all are trying to make it.

It mostly means that a girl has fallen in love with an older guy.. But not just any guy. This guy is completely different from all the other guys, which is why Billie feels that one movement inside his eyes could set her to tears. She is enraged with herself for falling in love with him yet she is obsessed with the beauty of his eyes and can't seem to fall back out of them. Despite the fact that the ocean eyes hide lots of dark secrets and a bright personality, there is also such a vastness inside them that truly amazes her in a way that she is almost entranced. However, this person is someone she feels she cannot be with and who she feels has left her alone. Because of this, his "ocean eyes" seem to haunt her emotionally.

I see this as Billie’s blue eyes because in her song, you should see me in a crown, she sings: Fell for these ocean eyes...”

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I read the lyrics from Another possible perspective: the writer has admired an older (possibly married) woman, but now finds him/herself falling hard for her. She’s smart and attractive, but may have experienced something devastating that has left her sad and lonely. The writer struggles with the feelings they are experiencing.
