Go Down Gamblin Lyrics

Born a natural loser I can't recall just where
Raised on brew and poker and a dollar here and there
Black-jack hand dealer man you better payoff that last debt
Two bit hand a twenty one that's all I ever get
Go down gamblin'
Say it when...

It's pretty obvious to me that the evening of this described gambler ended in a gunfight. Similar to that of Doc Holliday needing to kill or be killed when the big loser at the table turns to anger and pistols. It is almost certainly about a showdown. We get a hint of then this tune all through it, but especially during the powerful hirn interlude where these highly technical trumpets blast a run ending on a Concert pitch B flat above High C. For the standard B Flat trumpet used in Jazz & commercial music this is the famous 'Double C'. Or in another terminology, It's the B flat at the position of the powerful Blues note. A minor third in the Blues key of G natural.

And who can forget the final 'Showdown' going 'You may never have to go, No No No.... No'! This is being where the late Lew Soloff screams his powerful trumpet on a concert pitch High G. Then hangs it over past the cut-off of the band. Lou invented this very poignant ending and does it in both 'Hi-De-Ho' by Laura Nyro and 'More & More' which I think was written by BS&T.

A song about experiencing the radicalized daredevil ideology of the Lefties who became and are usually the gamblers of the world that wants to subdue it's will and win. All in the Unseen Order to become a transformed Right human being in need to awake and be born again, especially during the times when being young, wild and crazy. Or anotherwords ''ideologically possessed''.
