Song Released: 2011
The Money Tree Lyrics
-
This song was written during the divorce from his wife. She had gotten into a bad custody battle over Justins' child, Blue.
He talk about how hard he has worked and tried to provide. Not just for her but " for the future of this family" "College, health emergency.Do you think it's easy picking money off my money tree?"
He is re-ederating that although he has archieved some wealth, he wants to keep it to provide for emergencies and his daughters education. The music and entertainment buisness is cruel and sucess comes and goes.Clearly he is implying that he feels uncomfortable spending so much money for the court and to apease her demands. He is making a reference to her for being greedy and ungrateful too. " Two houses, both cars, your credit card debt, did you already forget? Hm, you threathen, threathen, threaten...fine, find a man who will put up with this shit"
He is angry at her for expecting him to keep paying things for her in hopes of getting custody and all the times he has helped her out in the past( credit card debt he paid off)
