Bob Seger: Understanding Meaning
Understanding Lyrics
-
I thought for a long time that
Bob was paying tribute to one of his teachers for finally working with him to understand more clearly. -
For me Personally the song brings tears to my eyes because when my youngest daughter was very young me and her mother divorced and then I didn’t see her very often and after a few years we just didn’t see each other at all and it really took a toll on her more than I could have ever realized until one day we reconnected and she began to tell me how hard her life had been and how much she needed me and I wasn’t there. I still have to deal with the guilt that I myself caused by not being a real dad to my daughter. She has since forgiven me and we now have a wonderful dad daughter relationship but nothing will ever bring back all those years that I wasn’t there for her and that’s the hardest part. When I hear Bob Sefer singing Understanding it brings tears to my eyes because for the first time in my life I truly understand what my selfishness has done to another soul that never deserved to be hurt in any kind of way especially by the very person that should have been there to love and protect her from being hurt. She and I both love this song because it’s a very special reminder that it’s never to late to mend broken hearts a save a relationship that should have never been broken to begin with. I Love you Stormi Brooke Ewing and I will never let you down ever again. Thanks Bob Seger for such a great song that will forever be special in mine and my daughters heart.
