Limousine Lyrics

K, here's your ride.
Get your petals out and lay them in the aisle
Pretend your garden grows and that it's your day to wed.
We found your man he's drinking up, he's all-american.
And he'll drive.

its about a little girl, Katie Flynn, who was on her way home from her aunts wedding in a limousine. She was the flower girl in the wedding, hence when Jesse Lacey says "Get your petals out and lay them in the aisle." A man who had consumed three times the legal limit of alcohol (in New York) was driving and hit the limousine, killing Katie and the limo driver: "We found your man he's drinking up, he's all-american. And he'll drive. He's volunteered with grace to end your life." The lyrics "And I, one more night to be your mother." Are symbolizing the position of Katie's mother.

This song shows yet again Jesse's lonely, God-forsaken feelings. Throughout many of his songs, he writes about feeling alone, or not deserving grace. "I saw our sad Messiah. He was bored and tired of my laments; said, 'I died for you one time, but never again.'" I think someone needs to show him the ever-forgiving grace that is God...not this cruel, cold, god he seems to have mistaken for the loving one that sent his only Son to die for us.
