Glory Days Lyrics
back in high school
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside sat down...

A great old song by BRUUUUCE about Reliving our 'lost dreams' that we loved to play on our past. With a nostalgic sad way that keeps us stuck there with A DRINK OR TWO. For when living and dreaming ENTHUSIASTICALLY, but no longer for any future dreams that would not have any real magic or meaning, like they had THE LOVE OF THE PAST.
I always found it vunny that so many professional sports teams (like the New York Giants) play "Glory Days" over the speakers during games. It's as if they don't understand the song at all. The song is really saying that, in a few years, Eli Manning will be an old fart in a bar, mumbling "Did I ever tell you about the time I won the Super Bowl?" And the bartender and his fellow patrons will roll their eyes, thiking, "Yes, you told us that a million times. That was YEARS ago. Move on!"
Springsteen's whole point is that, hwtehr we're sports stars or just ordinary people, we all get old, and we often cling to happy moments of our youth and think of them as the best times of our lives.
There's nothing wrong with a little nostalgia, but it can be extremely unhealthy. A man in his thirties is still young! He has a LONG life ahead of him. He should be looking forward to all the wonderful experiences he hasn't had yet. But too often, even a guy in his thirties is already looking back at his teenage years and thinking, "THOSE were the good old days. My life will NEVER be that great again."
And that's sort of pathetic.

He and he friends are longing for when times were simpler. For when they could sit back and relax in their "glory days".

I wonder now that he is older, he has glory days to think about.
glory days is about the good things we remember from our past. today we fret taxes-war-porr economy and foreclosures. our parents feared the same things but we didn't know it. we were in our youth our "glory days" where there are no bad memories.now my grandchildren are in their glory days and i day dream about mine

The song is based off the character Gatsby from the novel the Great Gatsby because he is trying to avoid his past but it will always be with him just like glory days are.
