Songs about Depression
Depression, as a condition, never used to get this sort of attention. It used to be called "melancholy" or even "the dumps." But now depression gets its own sitcom, it's own bookshelf, its own lobbying group, and certainly its own pills. With all this awareness of the condition and the fact that it's not just a case of "cheer up and quit being so grumpy," quite a few music genres - most particularly Emo - have recognized depression as well.
But then everybody gets depressed too. So some of these songs are just about general glumness, honored since time immemorial with the seminal song genre we call "the blues." Get your blue on here, because you've got no where else to turn to.
