   i think its about growing up with depression/mentall illness. the 'fuzzy little guy' being his stuffed animals. empty bed, as in he wont be there to sleep with him because hes gone. the meds he mentioned 'they said the meds would take care of things for me' being antidepressants, which didnt help. and that it switched povs to someone caring about him at the end 'today i felt scared think bout your empty bed. but i know youll be fine, yeah, youve got to stay alive'.

   As a child of divorced parents I believe that is what this song is about. I know devil town is also about that but it makes so much sense to me. I have a lot of stuff to my neighbors when I left with my mom. The thirteen year old part is when you’re old enough to have an opinion.. meaning your parents start to make you choose. I think that’s why he says “with a heart made of gold.” His parents probably made him feel bad about what choice he made. Then it goes “they said the meds will take care of things.. I don’t think they are working. This could easily be trauma caused from the breakup. Then I think it switched to a pov of a parent in the last verse. “Take care of you for me.” Ik I’m bias but oh well.

   Having had my own experiences with this, I think this is about having a family pet that dies - "had to say goodbye to the fuzzy little guy" that is on medication - "they said the meds will take care of things for me" which aren't working. and you have to watch it get weaker and more tired day after day while the idea of it being gone some day is literally haunting you - "today I felt scared thinking of your empty bed".
   yet you don't really want to accept it - they've lived that long, who said they couldn't for even longer, right? - "but I know you'll be fine, yeah you've got to stay alive"
   it is the last song I played for my cat, the evening before she was put to sleep and to this day it's the only thing I can think of when listening to it. the album cover makes it even worse.

   I think the song “empty bed” by Cavetown is talking about how he lost someone important to him during his childhood. “I was 8 years old with a furry animal” the furry animal being the important person, “went to say goodbye to the fuzzy little guy” meaning the “fuzzy guy” had to leave. “And I’ll know you’ll be fine, you got to stay alive” meaning you are about to lose them. (Also, I just wanna point out. If you listen closely during the dialogue in this song you can hear their younger self talking. Incase you didn’t know”

   I think this song is something about childhood. The intro to the song sounded like a video tape about to be played, like watching videos of your younger self. The song also mentions him at 8 and 13 years old. And mentions taking care of things like the stuffed animal, or the meds take care of him. It really feels that this song has something to do with change in childhood.
