Just Add Water Lyrics

Please don't invite me, please don't invite me
I wanna be alone, I wanna be alone
And don't remind me, please don't remind me
I don't wanna know, I don't wanna know
Leave without me because I don't wanna go
Just add water and let me...

I think this song is about someone distancing themselves from their friends/family. Maybe because of hyper independence, they believe that people shouldn’t have to put their time and energy into them, which is why, when their friends do put that energy into them, they think something must be wrong. The person expects, and is almost proud of, people treating them like they don’t need much, if anything. I think that’s why the song uses “just add water”. A lot of things are marketed as easy to use and have when all you have to do is “add water”. When the person realizes that the people they care for want to do more than that, it scares them. “Leave without me because I don’t want to go” I think that references how they’ve been left alone in the past, and now don’t know how to be with other people. “I’ll sleep until it’s over” is another way of showing how easy it is to be with the person. Despite all of this, they still crave the affection finally being given to them. “And when I wake up, greet me with a hug, A body warm and loving. Show me I’m not disgusting” that tells how, usually, when people become hyper independent, it’s because, in the past, someone convinced them they weren’t deserving of care, or that they were disgusting. Towards the end, the song says “I’ll turn the lights off when I go. Pay my bills and fold my clothes. Take care of my family and my home” I think this is the person finally making themselves leave their friends, either by suicide, or by cutting them off. They mention paying the bills, folding the clothes, making sure that it’s like they were never there at al, like they never took up space to begin with, that they never needed that affection. When it says “Take care of my family and my home” I think that’s another way of the person saying that they don’t need the affection, even though they do, and thinking that they must have done something wring for their friends to give it to them, they feel like they’re being a burden, so they leave, believing it to be better for those they care about, so they don’t feel like they have to take care of the person anymore. After all, why would they, when it would be so easy to “just add water” and ignore the person?

    (TW, mentions of suicide)
I think it’s about someone who is always outside of the circle, and one day decides to leave(suicide?) not sure, but something like that

A song about introversion and not wanting to go out or not being invited. Feeling sad about seeing your friends have fun without you.

    tw suicide

i am viewing this as him feeling very alone and before he decides to leave is trying to comfort the people around him, that things will be fine. but at the same time he wants to feel needed and cared for, and he is still debating if he really wants to leave.

as someone who is currently having a mental breakdown over his friend's picking other people over him and always leaving him out, it's safe to say that this song is about someone who is always left out. and he tries to act like he doesn't care. the first "please don't invite me"s, he's saying it sarcastically. because it's gotten to a point where he's almost mocking his friends. his friends do things and don't invite him and he has to act like it's not all that big of a deal. but it's taking a toll on him; so much to the point where he genuinely thinks he's the problem. but since he feels like he may be the problem, the lyrics "just forget about me and be happy on your own," he wants his friends to be happy. even though it's hurting him

I think the song is about a person that gets left out from everything because their 'friends' didn't invite them to anything. Eventually one day the person finds all their 'friends' leaving for a party without them and is heartbroken so they "Sleep until it's over" which means that they will pretend to be asleep until their friends get back. The person begins to think that they get left behind because they did something wrong and they're disgusting.

When youre declining invitations (to parties etc.), because youre introverted, people dont understand you, they are slowly losing interests in you and theyre not inviting you anymore. Because of that you start thinking that youre bad person and it would be better for others if they just left you.

I think it might be a song about him being introverted and seeing the people he loves move on and have fun without him. It sounds as though near the end he's ushering someone to move on from him, or he himself is trying to move on from someone.
