    I think this is a song that represents the pain of losing a loved one, this makes more sense if we take into account the meaning of the album (The loss of a close friend from Cavetown) comet, and it doesn't even fly" can refer to the state of depression that someone suffers during grief, "Are you near me? Can you see me?" "Are you up there" are lines that contribute to this meaning "I don't care about this life" represents suicidal thoughts during grief
