Take Out The Gunman Lyrics

Awoke when the light
Hit me right in the temple
Felt something cold
Touch my toes as it passed

Might not be the face you’d expect
But he’s clearly insane
Got me pegged in the back

Just need a bit of luck, get 'em up
Point the gun at...

This is probably completely wrong but I think it is about seeing a "gunman?" and you know, taking him out? I'm sorry, I'm not good with song meanings.

I think this song is about a sniper waiting for the right moment to take down someone who is getting ready to go on a shooting spree. Or it could possibly be about someone who catches on to someone who has a hit out on him. He's trying to muster up the courage to kill him before he gets killed.

Yes mass shootings would still happen if they weren't televised because these shooters are sick and out to ruin lives not catch the medias attention. As far as pro gun that is a bold statement to make about a band. Dixie chicks were outspoken liberals and their career was destroyed by conservative radio stations and stores like Walmart so conservatives are hypocritical when it comes their claim that conservatives careers are destroyed for speaking out, megadeth, korn, stained all are conservative yet I still hear them on the radio. If they are pro gun maybe the next song could be about being sad cause they needed a gun to order a burrito or a coffee. The song sounds an awful lot like tool. Good sounding song what waste if it were pro gun rant to blame the media for shootings. I guess it could be viewed as pro or anti gun or it could transcend that and represent something like an internal struggle. Bottom line is I wouldn't tout this as pro gun cause describing these horrible mass shooting and reminding people what guns can do if they are sold to the wrong people is not going to get more people on the pro gun side. Yes I am liberal and I do believe you have the right to own a gun if you are sane and not a crook.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

The gunman is a metaphor that symbolizes a persons demons and the struggling within ourselff to conquer it while findin a way to mask it and guard it so that no one can see. That's what it means to me

There is actually a quote on what this song is about. It is about the schools as well as non school related mass shootings and how the media brings larger than life attention to them. It is a moment of 'if we don't televise/publicize the issue, would there be more or less of it happening" type of thing.

I think the band is dancing around what their hit song means. It sounds like a very pro gun song, coming up in a liberal controlled anti-self protection America. Chevelle hasn't given a real explanation of the song. I hope they don't. Their career could be ruined when "they" didn't agree.
