Loud and Heavy Lyrics

Loud thunder heavy rain
Thin line between joy and pain
It's a long strange trip it's all insane
You ain't ever gonna be the same
Living life through the night
Thin line of a lightning strike
Sometimes the only light
When the moon is tucked...

    “White Lightning”
Thin line of a LIGHTNING strike
Pistons pumping (his heart pounding) minds racing
Been up for 3 damn days
Thin LINE between joy and pain
Almost every verse has a connection to Columbian Bam Bam

It'd obviously a song about a turtle trying to outrun his shady past as a stripper at the local pond.

This song definitely depicts the life of a heavy Methamphetamine user. A long strange trip it's all insane. You ain't never gonna be the same.

I see it as being about working as an emergency services worker (police, fire, EMS) and dealing with PTSD...

"Loud thunder, heavy rain" - the assault on your senses and emotions during and after you deal with people on the worst nights of their lives. The repeated echoing in your head hours or days later from the chaos that you're still trying to make sense of.

"Thin line between joy and pain" - the thin line of men and women who separate joy and pain in their lives, good and evil in society. The thin created to protect and separate personal lives from professional.

"it's a long strange trip it's all insane, you ain't never gonna be the same" - After a couple years, you become a different person.

"Pistons pumping, minds a racing. It's hard to sleep man, when I'm shaking" - trying to sleep after a chaotic night shift full of traumatic events.

    etc, etc...

Fantastic lyrics. Every line in the song can be interpreted to support the meaning that the listener finds in it.

I have been watching Deadliest Catch and it really can be interpreted as someone at sea, fishing or offshore rigging!

    Loud thunder, heavy rain
Thin line 'tween joy and pain
It's a long strange trip, it's all insane
You ain't never gonna be the same
    Living life through the night
Long trip, but get paid a lot of money, no one is ever the same, always working through the night.

I travel and work on the road with one of my middle school buddies and he showed me the song about a month and half of me working with them. Instantly fell in love with the song, simple as that. Now he asked me what I got out of the song and at first I never ACTUALLY listened to it bc I’m more of a tone, melodical person rather than a lyricist. I went back and I believe I connected to the song on 2 different levels as in drug abuse and life on the road. “Seems like the only light, is when the moon is tucked away” as broad as it is traveling on the road at night. You got all these lights from buildings, signs, cars etc.

what i love about this song (and so many others) is that its written vague enough to leave it open for many interpretations, you're all correct, its all about how you relate to the song, that's how you will decipher its meaning
to me, personally, on first listen i knew exactly how i would relate, every single line in the song puts an addict right at home, its a song about meth, line for line, no doubt about it, if you know, you know
i can also see how its open for a truck driver or touring artists perspective, different lines hit on it enough to make it make sense,
its also open to a perspective of cody writing about his son, theres many ways you can take this great song, it is about whatever you think it is about, that's the beauty of it, amazing job to cody jinks, truly a great piece of work

The song is about crystal meth. I would say cocaine but meth seems more appropriate for the loud and heavy buzz with long strange trips that make you seem insane. You're never gonna be the same because your dopamine is fried and you're spun out from tweaking for a week. He just snorted the sparkly lightning ⚡

I think its about addiction. This song has helped me through some dark days and its funny bc I got clean around the time this song became popular in 2015. 5 1/2 years clean and life is going much better. There's still days i struggle and want to fall back on coke but I dont for the simple fact that my daughter needs me. Much love to cody jinks and everyone reading this!!

He came up with the song on his sons 2nd birthday he took his son to tractor supply and it started raining, he told his son theres loud thunder and heavy rain. His son then repeated loud thunder heavy rain over and over. So he got the hook stuck in his head and boom the song came out. Interesting enough his son owns a portion of the rights to the song for being the inspiration... you can find a recording of the interview that he explains it online so no its not about drugs lol

i think it’s talking about war. joy and pain meaning you have some fun days with the people around you but it’s some of the worst moments. loud thunder meaning the gun shots and heavy rain bullets flying at you. long strange trip people are deployed for a long time. you ain’t never gonna be the same meaning ptsd after the war.
