Hope You Get Lonely Tonight Lyrics

I could go for a tipsy tailgate kiss,
baby taste the moonshinin' off of your lips,
I want to see that want ya smile,
still got me hooked been hooked for awhile.
If you got a bottle you ain't opened yet,
and an empty spot beside ya in ya...

To me it sounds like it is about a one night stand between exes who are still in love with each other. However based on the delivery and "room for a little regret," lyric I take it to possibly mean one or both of them has moved on to another relationship.

CORRECTION: This song came across different to me. I believe it's not just about a guy who wants a one night stand with his ex. It's about two people who know they miss each other and even if that's the excuse they are using know it's much more. They want to be together so he asks "if you got room for a little regret"? Knowing that it's absolutely not the best thing for either of them. But if they are both feeling the same thing and missing each other than, "We could straight up blame it on the whiskey", meaning that if she needs an excuse here is one for you. He is obviously still in love with this woman and he stays up thinking about her, thoughts that are obviously sexual but he's a man, can you blame him? I don't believe this is about the sex. I believe it's about this man filling the hole that this woman has left in his heart. HE KNOWS SHE MISSES HIM AS WELL AND HE HOPES ONE NIGHT, FOR WHATEVER REASON, SHE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HOLD BACK HER FEELINGS ANY LONGER. Even if it's only for a night, and for the wrong reasons, THEY WON'T HAVE TO MISS EACH OTHER TONIGHT.

To me this song is about a guy who broke up with this girl. He's not over her yet and still loves her. Even though he is under the impression she is over him, he is hoping that by some miracle she will "get lonely tonight" call him up, and they could have a one night stand. Even if it means nothing at all, and they forget about it all in the morning, he misses her and just one night back with her will be enough to hold him off for now...I can relate to this song a lot right now
