He finds out later that his friend is actually in love with a girl named Heather, and this song (in my opinion, please don't get mad at me) is about how he feels through the whole ordeal, how "Watch as she stands with her holding your hand

This song hits pretty close to home for me, especially during this last year, where I have had a MASSIVE crush on my best friend (she knows I'm bi, but I don't think she knows I like her) while she is hitting on this one guy. Every time I feel jealous of the two, I smile back at her and tell her "I'm so happy for you". So yeah. That's my interpretation of the song. I could be wrong...

Recently a guy who i have been liking for years told me he likes me too. we texted a lot and i asked if he wanted to date me. he said no bc he is in a point in his life where he doesn’t want to date. We still texted a lot. one evening i asked him what did u do today, and he was so vague about it so i asked him for more details. he told me i act like a mom and i dont need to know everything about him. we stopped talking and he blocked my number. I found out less than a month after that happened he was dating another girl.
For me i think of that other girl as heather and i would be connan. At the part he says “why would you ever kiss me” to me its like why would i ever get my hopes up. and also when he says “im not even half as pretty” also hits hard. she is a practically perfect blonde skinny angel. im not fat but also not skinny, i have tons of freckles, a gap in my teeth,and frizzy brown hair.

I think it’s about Conan who has a crush on a (boy), but the boy likes Heather. He (Conan) doesn’t like Heather because his crush likes her, but feels bad about it because she’s not a bad person. If that made any sense. At least I was in a similar situation a few weeks ago, so that’s how I interpreted it. (Sorry for my bad grammar)

It's so obvious to understand that he's talking about a guy .see the lyrics say 'me in your sweater,u said it did look better on me than it did u ' so how can a guy wear a girls sweater ? Think about it it's mostly very short , skinny ,that means conan was wearing a guy's sweater which he later gave to Heather...and it's ok if he's gay no one is trying to be offensive here just curious about the meaning.have a good day lovelies

It's about a girl named Heather who Conan didn't like because she was perfect and everybody liked her. And Conan's crush liked Heather but not Conan. Conan was obsessed with Heather but also hated her at the same time. He wanted to be her but also wish she didn't exist. And the sweater was never the crush's sweater it was actually Conan's. He would wear it a lot because his crush would always tell him he looked good in it. There is also no gender specific title to Conan's crush and just assuming it is a guy is wrong. please use They/them when talking about Conan's crush because you do not know who they are and could be hurtful to them or Conan. Conan uses these pronouns for a reason when talking about people he likes for privacy. Please respect Conan and the people he talks about.

I agree with the first person. I mean we don't know Conan's sexuality, but what I am assuming is Heather is a girl that Conan liked all throughout high school but the girl didn't like him or at least did not show any interest in Conan, Heather liked another girl and he wishes he were Heather so the girl would like him instead. I don't think it makes a ton of sense if it was the other way around like it was a guy dating a girl named Heather and he wishes he was Heather meaning Conan is gay but I highly doubt that. Plus the video, when it showed him transforming into Heather so his crush would like him instead of Heather. I don't know, the big message I got from the song and video is the theme is jealousy.

I think that the boy and a girl anr best friends and they started to like each other so at one they kissed, but the girl started to like a different person but she starts to like a girl so the boy sings that he wishes he is heather the girl she likes.
