Cory Asbury: Sparrows Meaning
Song Released: 2020
Sparrows Lyrics
Or the troubles to come
The lily's not thinking 'bout the seasons
The drought or the flood
A tree that's planted by the water
Isn't fazed by the fire
So why should I be?
'Cause You take good care of...

I am totally in awe of these lyrics. To me Cory is saying this.
Place your trust in God. He will never let you fail. He will always be there for you so cast your worries away. Many of us live our lives with the "what if" attitude. Cory captures this so nicely when simplistic things such as sparrows, lillies, and trees not worrying about tomorrow, about floods, or about fire. That God promises to always provide, to hold on to you when things in the future rock our world. His love for us never changes. In the bridge of the song, Cory uses the metaphor of people seemingly to expect more but they can't seem to get past God's goodness and awesomeness. In this world today, we should not look beyond that for His love and goodness for us is always enough.
I have been a Christian musician for many years and this one just has all the key elements of a great message. With it's pop, pseudo-rap downbeat it captures your attention from the first note.
Thank you Cory.....Rock on and keep them coming!
