Nymphetamine Lyrics

Laid to the river
Midsummer, I waved
A "V" of black swans
On with hope to the grave
And though Red September
With skies fire-paved
I begged you appear
Like a thorn for the holy ones

Cold was my soul
Untold was the pain
I faced when...

Obviously the song interprets that of a Nymph (mythological spirit-like beauty) alongside the harmful addicion of the drug amphetamine.

I don't think this song sits with the thought of a break-up etc. but he finds such turmoil and pain in forever being encased with the longing to be with such a beautious love he can never hold. 'swore to the razor' he takes out this infliction of pain upon himself, tortured by how he can draw no nearer to being loved the way he would love this 'perfection' (metaphorical of the myth spirit) and he is encapsulated in this pain and dwelling 'prison'- he is fixated on this angel.

The 'V' of black swans concludes to that of the Holy Grail; turning his pain of loneliness into denial of faith.

'I faced when you left me a rose in the rain'
because this nymph is a spirit, and a metaphor for what each of us needs and desires, though fully aware we can never have, he turns denial into the concept that he is now lost, although never embraced what he had craved.

'I could always find the right slot for your sacred key' hoping that these prayers to be loved and to love back this perfection had lead him past the doors of his own judgement and realisation that 'she' (disguised in perfection)is leading him further froma realistic life, and towards and endless hell.

In all, I think this verse concludes its meaning-
"Sick and weak from my condition (drug-like addiction to hope)
This lust, a vampyric addiction (beauty of what seems like perfection)
To her alone in full submission (masked inner-beauty, leading him astray)
None better (the love he feels for 'her'- 'her' meaning the desire and dreams nobody can touch or harm)
    Nymphetamine (craved love)"

    Hope this helps.

This song is about an addictive beautiful girl who leaves a guy who loved her a lot.

He starts self harming himself because he can't take pain that has been inflicted on his heart.
'So I swore to the razor
    That never, enchained
Would your dark nails of faith
Be pushed through my veins again '

When he sings 'the barless prision', he is meaning his heart saying that he is trapped in this pain forever.

Nothing to do with nymphos, people. This has to do with nymphs. A nymph is a beautiful woman who is like a spirit- for this reason she is untouchable. Etamine is an addictive drug. So basically if you use your loafs this guy is addicted 2 this beautiful girl, he falls in love with her after a period of time, but he can't have her because she's untouchable- a nymph. I hope you find this useful, I don't think it has anything to do with breaking up or nymphos though.

I think more than anything else, the name "Nymphetamine" is a reference to Vladimir Nabokov's "Lolita".
A 'nymphet femme fatale' is a literary character archetype. Dani filth is a massive fan of classic literature, it's totally fitting with the countless other literary references he adds to many of their songs.

It's about a man being in love with a drug habit which he compares to the insatiable attraction one would have to that of a nymph and an unexplainable desire and lust, despite the danger, like that of hypnotic vampiric lust.

My interpretation of the lyrics or are much darker. Rather than singing about a woman he uses the visage of a woman in order to add emphasis to a deadly drug habit that was killing him slowly but admired and embraced every moment. "I could always find the right spot for your sacred key" could easily refer to being able to hit a vain with a needle without any bruising, clotting, burning etc. Let's not forget Dani had an addition to amphetamines.

The woman/man object of desire is so vain a narcissist she/he craves men/women to adore their beauty but he/she is so cold and shallow inside I find the song interestingly depraved drug addicted the dark side of life the temptation and what it does to the mind it totally sends me to hell once they lose their beauty and it will go....they go insane they no longer have control over the person narcissists have never loved they only love themselves they destroy others and don't give a damn the trail of destruction they leave behind

to me the song represents the most beautiful of all loves setting the thought back to the 1700's. a good time where love was most beautiful. Vampire women are beautiful creatures but also very suductive...

Honestly I could be way of base but I've listened to ally of cradle and some of they're songs talk about the 16 17 century. So if you look atty it from that point of view the woman could have been his for some time but back then they believed in put arranged marriage. So she was taken away from him and to him she was the image ofthe perfect woman but she was untouchable to him beverage she could no longer be his she was his nymph. And anyone knows that if you truly love someone your addicted to them. So he can't take the pain and and takes the razor to himself. The girl loves him and wants top be worth him just she can't be but mourns him. This is just what I got out of it I could be way off

i think this song is all about love for a spirit which was once with the man but has left him all alone now.
the guy is now addicted to the love and lust he found in that spirit.
"i faced u left me a rose in the rain" this line clearly shows the separation.
"This lust, this vampyric addiction" he is compare his lust and love like the addiction of a vampire for blood.

i think this song is about a beautiful women or spirt that he loved, and she lefted him and he became depressed and wasnt able to see things clearly(tunnel vision) and started to self harm(i swore to the razor) that then lead him to his death.

as she visted him at his grave (maybe feeling guilty) there she was remembering the time they had together and so was he!

i guess the love thing is rigth but for me this song represents the addiction. she is the voice of the drug it looks like a dialog but she does not exist, she is just the addiction to a substance talking to him in his head. im not saying this is what the song means but then i dont realy know love but i know about drug addiction so for me thats what it´s about.

Its about a guy falling in ln love with a beautiful
Girl, a nymphet. A sexually attractive young girl.
But since she's a nyph/nyphet he can touch her,
Have her. Nyphs are untouchable. But he is addicted
To her. Thus, the other half of the name, fetamine-a
Extremly addictive drug. So he has a drug like
Addiction to a girl he cant have.

Wikipedia says: The title is a portmanteau of "nymphomania" and "amphetamine", and Dani Filth explained the track itself as referring to "a drug-like addiction to the woman in question, with her insidious vampire qualities literally bringing her lover back from the brink of the spiritual grave, only to bury him further on the strength of a whim. The album is written in the style of Edgar Allan Poe's works, and leaves one thinking that, despite the character's inner agonies, he is really a welcome submissive who readily enjoys the terrible highs and lows of his relationship with this alluring and filthy, depreciative succubus."
