   I think that the thing he has that is alive is the Love Of Jesus Christ, and that others reject him because, subconciously, they crave what he has, and hate him for his ability to go through life burdened only by them, the 'thorns in his side.'

   "Walking around I hear the sounds of the earth seeking relief"
   
   he's saying that the world is trying to seek relief from it's stress, meaning the violence, ridicule, pollution, and the destruction of nature, and the ecosystem.
   
   "I'm trying to find a reason to live
   But the mindless clutter my path"
   
   Exactly what it says, He's trying to find a reason to live, but people are going in his way of finding the reason he's alive, everyones ridiculing and "mindless", these "mindless" people are the one's stressing this world.
   
   "Oh these thorns in my side
   Oh these thorns in my side"
   
   what do thorns do? they dig inside your skin, and make you bleed, metaphorically meaning that they're getting deep inside his skin, in other words, getting on his nerves, getting him irritated, irritation then leads him to liberation of his pain:
   
   "I know I have something free
   I have something so alive"
   
   the thing that is free and "so alive" is his pain, because his pain is intense, so urging to liberate, and so unbearable.
   
   "I think they shoot cause they want it"
   
   He's stating that he thinks they "shoot" because they "want it", you see, shooting causes wounds, and wounds hurt, so when he says that, he means that they ridicule and torture, in other words "shoot", because they want it. Why do they want it, because they like seeing him suffer.
   
   "I feel forces all around me
   Come on raise your head"
   
   He feels forces all around him, which means he's not alone, there are evil forces, He's telling the other people going through the same thing to help each other, and to be confident, and raise their heads, and battle against them.
   
   "Those who hide behind the shadows
   Live with all that's dead"
   
   He's saying that if you hide behind the shadows, than your a wimp, your a person who doesn't want to take action, "you live with all that's dead".
   
   "Look at me... look at me
   At least look at me when you shoot a bullet through my head
   Through my head"
   
   He's telling to look at him, while they're delivering his torture, which is a bullet through his head, which means, ridicule. He's telling them to look at him, while ridiculing him, because if not, they're just wimps trying to look superior just by torturing him, and they have to much pity to do it while looking at him.
   
   "In my lifetime when I'm disgraced
   By jealousy and lies
   I laugh aloud 'cause my life
   Has gotten inside someone else's mind"
   
   People are minding his life, digging into his business, and people noticing the some of the good aspects of him and his life, are jealous, and to look better they lie, it's a disgrace to him.
   
   "Hey all I want is what's real
   Something I touch and can feel
   I'll hold it close and never let it go"
   
   He wants real friends real love, because all of them are blasphemy, liars and more, he says he would hold it close and never let it go.
   
   "Said why... why do we live this life
   With all this hate inside
   I'll give it away 'cause I don't want it no more"
   
   He's asking why does he have to live this live with so much hate, He says he wants to give it away, because he doesn't want it anymore.
   
   "Please help me find a place
   Somewhere far away I'll go and you'll never see me again"
   
   He's asking people to help him find a peaceful place, to stop the hate, he said he'll go there, and that these "evil forces" or hateful mean people will never see him again, because they won't be there after they "find", or rather make that peaceful place.
