Accidental Babies Lyrics

happy hands
and your elbow in the appropriate place

    I agree with K94...

Regardless of if they were together, and the moved on, or if they are together with separate partners, it seems to come from a place of intensity, and not so much simply a place in time.

You can move forward into another relationship, but there is always one person for everyone. Yes, there are many whom with you can make things work. There are the logical choices, the smart choices, the right choices, even the wrong choices. But I think everyone has that 'someone'...

The one person they had more chemistry with than any other person. And it one of the saddest, coldest, loneliest days when you realize, that while anyone can move forward and move on, you will never ever love anyone the same way you loved that person... so completely, so unreservedly, so intensely, so passionately... the kind where you transcend all terrestrial and natural barriers, and just ... find a place... somewhere else... some other level... connecting on all four planes and levels.. and leaving all thoughts and cares behind.
The kind of love where a person can literally finish your sentences (No, it's not just a cliche, it really does happen), and you can have an entire conversation with no words at all. The kind of love where when you are 80 years old, you just know inside of you right now at 22 (No, I'm not 22, I'm 44, but I knew at 22, actualy 21) that just a glance across the room, a touch from that person, will make your heart leap out of your chest.
Sometimes .. life... unforseen occurrence, timing, chance, circumstance.. and a series of unfortunate misunderstandings... can get in the way and in a very real way, something that you thought no man, woman, spiritual force, not even the God above could hinder, just... slips away... from your grasp.
You may move forward, but you never, ever really move on..
I had high ideals, eventually... It took me a long time, very long time, to even CONSIDER or try to move on. I did... finally, eventually...
But I found out very quickly, that when you have had the best, you don't want to settle for anything less.
    "Sometimes we fly too close."
Even when you don't try to, you can't help but compare. A wise person once told me, "You can't compare one love to another. You must learn to love in different ways." While that is true... I have found that loving someone else, while possible, can be a painful reminder of just where you truly are.
And that you will never, ever have again what you once did...
But I am blessed... because I DID have it once... something that some ppl never experience in a lifetime...
Rare, true, precious... a sublime slice of the purest bliss & paradise I have ever known...
... and I am comforted to know that I have my own recompense in full. Contradictory, Ik now, but it eases the pain of living with someone who you will never be good enough for. If I were anyone else, if I had not experienced what I did, it would hurt, I could not endure it. But I am me, and I have been loved... in the most complete way anyone ever could...
And I know who I am, I know what I once had, and I know what my life is now... I know that my partner has no mal intent, just a lot of psychological scars. What they say, what they do, I barely notice... because, here I am, nearly a quarter of a century later, still hung up on my first love... suffering, questioning the innocence and decisions of youth, and wondering if I ever cross their mind... or if it is just me, feeling the pain every day, alone.
Two hearts beating in one chest, that is what we were...
Above all else, what I know is this: My dearest, sweet J, the gentlest soul I've ever known, I loved you first, I loved you the purest, and I loved you the most. Of this I am sure. No one will EVER love you more completely, unreservedly, or deeper. And no one can ever take that away from me.

Long interpretation, I know. But this song... I have lived it. I know all the words and intent behind it. How one look, one glance can make you feel more in one second, than you ever did in a lifetime before.

    Everyone needs that ONE someone.

This song is seems to me to be about two people who were once in a relationship of some kind and are now with other people. But they've ended up sleeping together and the questions and feelings this has brought up.
The first verse seems to be about the actual act of being together again. Bodies harden, etc. Ignoring they're others happy plans is in reference to their respective partners. Then the chorus seems to be regarding how he feels about it. About her. About what's happening. Asking if she is settling for someone that is stable and calm rather than a love that is passionate and intense.
The second verse is more the after. Cushions over happy glands is pretty self explanatory as is talking if their mild disgrace (cheating together) then talking about guarded and pressed minds. How the two would be feeling after this has happened. And again he goes into wondering - he knows they're relationship had its downs but will they ever find others that truly know them, accept them and love them for who they really are, the highs with the lows, like they did when together. No matter how tumultuous it could get. Hes clearly still in deep love and knows she is really so presses her or maybe just wonders, will he ever know you like I do? Will he ever love you like I do? And does he make you feel like I make you feel? Cause if not, come back to me before it's too late.

This song is full of sadness but also some hope. Maybe it could happen. Maybe it won't. But they know that if it doesn't they can move on and make their own lives. But is it what she really wants?

It's a poem of sorts. So deeply personal and intense and I love Damiens way of drawing that out in his songs. Especially when you've experienced something so intense and emotional.

He considers the girl in question like her soulmate, the one for him, and for some reason, they're no longer together and she's with someone else. He wonders if her new man means the same as he did to her, if she has the same feelings towards him or if he is more of a backup love, a more tranquil one. Their relationship was clearly tumultuous "I know I make you cry, I know sometimes you wanna die" but the passion they felt towards each other is undebatable and he doesn't want her to give up the stormy waves of their passion for the still water of some flat love. This is why he urges her to come back before one of them gets accidental babies as babies tie you to their father/mother even though your heart may be somewhere else.

I can´t help to think about Damien and Lisa, and the fact he might have written the song when she broke up with him. The song has so much pain in it, but is still one of the most beutiful songs I´ve ever heard, along Northern Sky (Nick Drake), Wild Horses (Stones) and some others.

This song is about being in love with someone else even though you're both already in seperate relationships. In the song he is asking the woman if the guy she is seeing makes her feel the way he makes her feel.

He also feels regret in the fact that they are deceiving their respective partners.

All in all he is at the point where he wants the woman he is singing about to decide if she wants to stay with the man she is already with, or be with him (Damien) If she doesn't want to leave her man, then he's saying he wants her to leave him (Damien) before they fall even deeper in love.

Very beautiful song. I was kind of disappointed that nobody else on this site sees this song the way I see it though

So many feelings come to mind when I hear this song, it's hard to put them into coherent sentences.

Obviously this song is about two people who were together once but for whatever reason can't be now.

It's about starting over again after ending a relationship and realising that nothing feels as good as it did with the last. That it's not just because you grew together but because some people just have more chemistry together than others.
Realising that and realising you will never feel that again with another person. AND realising that you will never feel it with them again.

You're not making love anymore you're just going through the motions and every single night you spend with someone else, you miss how he knew exactly where to put his hands and how to hold you and how he smelt.

    This song breaks my heart

This is clearly a love song, but it acts as more of a lament for the girl he sings it to.

I think the girl in the song was in love with him but there was another man that those around her, her parents perhaps, wanted her to marry. This is hinted at in the line "And we ignored our others, happy plans/For that delicate look upon your face"

She must have let him go and followed their wishes for her because he seems to be asking her if she's happy with the other man; if she is the same with the other man as she is with him.

He says, "Do you come together ever with him?
And is he dark enough, enough to see your light?
And do you brush your teeth before you kiss?
    Do you miss my smell?

And is he bold enough to take you on?
Do you feel like you belong?
And does he drive you wild or just mildly free?
    What about me?"

He is asking if she regrets going to the other man and is wondering if he ever meant anything to her or if it was just his imagination even though he knows at heart thet he is the one she loves.

It seems that the two knew they couldnt be together from the start, though, so they gave in to each other just once. "Well, you held me like a lover" , and "
    Our minds pressed and guarded
    While our flesh disregarded
The lack of space for the light-hearted
In the boom that beats our drum"

"And I know I make you cry
I know sometimes you wanna die
But do you really feel alive without me?
If so, be free, if not, leave him for me
Before one of us has accidental babies
For we are in love" I think this is my favorite verse because it is like a last try to catch hold of her again. He is asking her if she will ever be happy with him and if she will then he will try his best to let her go. But, if she won't then he wants her again and is begging her to come back and forget them before they have both gone too far, leaving them with regrets and things that will forever separate them.

Love this song. It's so sad but it's beautiful.
