Louder than Ever Lyrics

Heard that song on the radio,
And it got my gears turnin’
Like a real life time machine.

You were there in the front seat,
Windows down we were burning,
It was just like a movie scene,
Those dashboard lights,
And your pale blue eyes...

This is a lament to old love. Daughtry sings of a song on the radio, one that acts as a time machine which brings back memories of when he was in love in his youth. Now he can hear the song louder than ever; his memories more clear than ever before as feelings of longing and even regret arise within him. The song does take a rather uplifting spirit to youthful love. He remembering happy memories as much as regretting things that he cannot change. Her pale blue eyes seeing right through is significant of their love, and the feelings he still has for her. They used to drive down the freeway singing loudly, which is the memory the song sparks, because it is the same song.

Oh and the reason he calls the car a "fast machine" is that it emphasizes the idea of the song being a time machine. The whole song is a metaphor essentially. The car represents his love, and he's using it to chase his dreams - the girl.
