#1 top rated interpretation:Okay you are so off. The Deftones started in 1988 they where a few members from another band which I am blanking on the name of right now. The band was underground chino and some other members wanted to go mainstream some others disagreed he said fuck it and the band broke up leaving some underground and "The Deftones" looking for the big time. The found it and he is explaining why he left. He got bored with playing shows at little clubs and getting a couple of dollars. He's coming clean to the other band members. He's reborn as in its the new him without them. "THE BIG ONE" is the mainstream.

The second interpretation is kinda similar to my interpretation. I think it’s about an Egyptian priest.

Heres a new one, Think about it being sung from the perspective of an Egyptian pharoah. Hes in his gold tomb burried in a pyramid, waiting to be reborn the way he was before and move to the afterlife or something. Ive heard that etched on the walls of egyptian tombs were the book of the dead, the book of gates, and the book of the underworld. maybe hes waiting for someone to figure out the right words or spell or some shit. Until then hes just pissed off and sick of waiting around. Yeah the song is probably about drug use or "wanking" but I thought ide put a long shot out there to think about.

So bored and sarcastically it's not with the bitches even though ones a total bitch and he'd rather fuck the blow up doll, but eventually he'll get his revenge on his bitch of a girlfriend that way by paying attention in school, not, and reach for his reward, suck my balls too sluts.

apparently they wrote it in 30 minutes and yet it’s one of my favorite songs from them. honestly there’s so many interpretations to this song and it’s crazy. one about his past band, a fucking blow up doll(???), drug abuse, someone said something about dissing christ (lol), mental illness, masturbating, and a lot more. i get all of them honestly when explained they all make sense. my first thoughts about the song were mental health and getting bored with reality and needing to do something to change it. not only that but drug abuse along with that makes a lot of sense to me. i get bored with the way things are going and want to be “reborn” and change how i perceive my life. it could also include a relationship into that. doing things to try and better yourself or feel something more when you’re in a relationship that’s just not going well and feeling that if you broke up it would “remold” you into a new person and free you “before you get bored” honestly i think however you perceive the song is up to your own choice and life how you perceive yourself.

i honestly just thought it was about someone with bad mental health who was bored so decided to cope or something cuz "i get bored" reminds me of myself "And we will come clean, it gets worse, it's more" clean as in clean from doing bad habits, it gets worse its more as in the downfall

This next part is from the POV of the doll. "Reborn left to sigh" because the doll is reborn every time you inflate it, and the sound of it deflating is like a sigh. "Be born and simplify the way I lie (down) before I get bored"
The doll gets "bored" because the guy's penis is "boring" into the doll. -

I don't know about that second post, it sounds wierd that they would open their debut album with a song that describes some band he used to be in. Also, the lyrics are far too vague to be talking about a band breaking up just over indie-ness
