For me, this is how I relate to it. I have been diagnosed w borderline personality disoder. So when it refers to every part being contradictory, I can relate, I feel like when i'm close to someone, there is always damage that I tend to cause, and I don't want to bring them on the rollercoaster w me. But I do want them there by my side. At the same time, when I sense i'm going down, I know whats gonna happen, i'm gonna get abandoned coz no one can take it. Its gonna be another fall out. Yet people don't understand that that is when I really need someone. But people leave, and altho it causes me pain, I don't want my loved ones in pain coz of me. Its bitter-sweet. And when they are about to leave, you try to get them to stay, by doing everything you can to make it up, being sweet, and trying to be on my best behavior. But I know whats gonna come, I can't be on my best vexation all the time coz its a mental disorder. And I agree, to a certain degree both bipolar and bpd are similar but different at the same time. But i'm sorry demi and whomever else has any sort of mental disorder. I feel your pain. Truly.

Is it really a mental illness? Don't judge because you don't know the person completely.
What's the use of seeing each other when they are not even comfortable to be with you even if they say they are only friends. So the best way is to end the friendship, is to tell the other person that let's not see each other anymore.
Funny thing is, the other person has a hundred of friends! ha ha ha

As someone w/borderline personality disorder I know that almost instantaneous mood shift of ""fine leave...I don't care, but why don't you love me?!...why won't you do this giant gesture of understanding through all my confusion when I can't (lol)...NVM, just go away from me, but I love you...go & leave me alone like all has thus far left me!... wait don't go, though!"" kind of love/lovin'.
But,you see, borderline personality is constantly misidentified as/with bipolar. Ya know, similar only in the ways that it is a mental illness that leaves one relationships, psyche and an emotional unstable wreck selfsabatoging because they're gonna leave anyways. An inward whirlwind & constant war within oneself.
BPD, like pretty much all Personality Disorders, in that it is incurable. Only HOPEFULLY managed-ish by meds & therapy.
Also, it's more instantaneous & snappy, unlike bipolar, which is the up&downs over periods of time ranging to with about a week to months, MaYBE, even years.
Sorry but the stereotype that your bipolar is this exhibition of these types of thoughts or mood shifts in a *snaps fingers*, is a misconception.
Now, I'm saying that purely objectively. I'm NOT putting any connotation or implication that I mean this is worse than that, I don't believe in doing that.
It is just simply something that is misconstrued as one for the other.
On a little side note, a lot of personality disorders, namely narcissistic personality disorder, are usually misdiagnosed for bipolar.
Anyways I just thought maybe I take a moment and set the record straight a little bit on the differences between these two mental illnesses and how one you can see you could sell chemicals in the brain come in and now when they're giving your waiting coming or waiting and when you can also Medicaid to balance chemicals as a difference personality disorders on a simple as a chemical balance correction as personality disorders are more like "what's wrong now?" & "how can we help it now?" .
Very dependant, with a hair trigger & no knowledge, even to the shooter, when or if or what direction one will fire. -
As some one whose has just been diagnosed as bipolar, I can see that this song is written about her love life with Wilmer... Since they got together they have been on and off repeatedly... The song describes her bipolar, how she's "confused and scared" how she has this constant life battle which is a strain on their love... But he comes back no matter what because he loves her... Because he understands she doesn't mean it...
Sometimes you say things and don't even realise it until much later on... I for one connect very deeply with this song and the meaning I see it to have... -
I believe it about her Bi Polar Depression. However this is something someone with BPD (borderline Personality Disorder) also experiences. "I hate you, don't leave me" is a famous book about understanding the borderline personality. In some ways, both Bi Polar and BPD are very similar, yet very different.

I think this song is about bpd mental illnes bipolar disorder is different from bpd in bipolar disorder u won't find rapid ch changes as bpd, the song describes about fear of abandonment just like bpd, in bipolar disorder periods between mania and depresion are so much longer and without reason, ppl with bpd changes mood during the day and they are very complicated ppl when they are in a relationships everything is so overwhelmed and caotic and they are terrify of loosing someone being abandon

I feel the song can relate to any one with relationships who also suffer mental illnesses, especially mood disorders like Bipolar or Bpd that make relationships and life so much harder. -
I agree that this song is about demis bipolar because the way she says 'i hate you dont leave me' suggests how her mood has rapidly changed

I personally believe that this song is about pushing away people that you love, you don't wanna get to close because they'll hurt you but at the same time you just kinda want to throw all of your love to them.
In Demi's case it could also be about her bipolar disorder, at one point she just yells and push people away and then minutes later she want to wheel them back in.. -
This song I obviously about her bipolar disorder. "I admit I'm in and out of my head, dont listen to a single word I've said." When you are bipolar, your mood changes drastically & dont always trust what she says because it's her illness speaking. "I hate you, dont leave me." She doesn't want you to leave her because of stupid things she didn't mean to say. "Just hear me out before you runaway, cuz I can't take this pain." Listen to her, but dont take her literally. She needs you to understand, she wants to make you understand.

This song she sings is for a person she is fall in love with. She says" when they love me , they leave me" so she is afraid of being forgotten or hurted by the one he loves So she says "i hate you dont leave me" she is refering to a person and she wants to say I love you too much for being hurt by you so I know if you hurt me I will hate you.
Im a huge lovatic, she is my saver il her too much !
