Listen to the Music Lyrics

Dont you feel it growin, day by day
People gettin ready for the news
Some are happy, some are sad
Oh, we got to let the music play
What the people need
Is a way to make em smile

People getting ready for the news... the end of days and the return of the Lord Jesus.

Some ARE happy and some are sad... which will YOU be?

What the people need is a way to make them smile; it ain't so hard to do if you KNOW HOW... got to get a message, get it on through... This is about how all we have to do is share the joy we feel in knowing the Lord.

All the rest of the lyrics are about people just enjoying themselves. When a person knows God through His Son Jesus, there are no "laws" about "do this" or "stop that". There is a freedom to love God and others.

Yes, these are the Doobie Brothers, and yes, that's a reference to smoking joints. How many of us have squeaky-clean lifestyles that we would publicly own up to? Not one of us is perfect, and if Tom Johnston or any of the other band members are believers in Jesus, they can go right on loving Him AND being the "Doobie Brothers". God has obviously raised them up to a standard of success and fame that few enjoy. We always need to remember that it's not ultimately the WORLD or its systems that make people rich, poor, famous or unknown; in the end, it's God who does all these things, for reasons we don't often understand, but He will show Himself right one day.

I, for one, thank God that there are songs like this out in the world... so much better than the overtly sexual and totally perverted garbage that passes for "music" these days.

When you listen to the music; and I'm speaking of hymns and praise songs, you hear nothing of a Father in heaven that is going to send those created in his image to hell.
Stop listening to preachers who impose fear, but listen to the music...ALL THE TIME!
Song says, "People get ready for the news"...the GOOD NEWS!
Religion says some are happy and some are sad. But there is no bad news in the GOOD NEWS. The Holy Spirit unknowing to the Doobie Brothers is saying we got to "Get the message out.....Get it on through."
"Oh mama it's going to take a while; but the 1st verse says "It's growing Day by Day."
The preachers say that only Christians make heaven, but if you listen to the music it says...."When we all get to heaven!" or "Some day every knee will bow." If you start listening to the music (All The Time) it is opposite of what preachers are preaching. As one song says "He's a Good Good Father."
Romans 8:21 states "ALL of creation shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption to the glorious liberty of the children of God."
The song tells about it, "Meet me in the country for a day." Look at the fields, the streams, the hills, the animals, the trees, the clouds, the stars....
God created all this beauty and this is is the same God that is going to send humanity to hell. If your eyes are ever open to the truth of God's UNCONDITIONAL LOVE..."You're going to dance the blues away." The song states "There ain't nothing you can do or say." Do not allow religion to mandate you having to do or say something and then you are God's Child. John 1:7 states that "Jesus is the light of the world and he lighteth every man."
The song ends with telling what heaven is going to be like according to the last chapter in the bible, how appropriate. Revelation 22 states there is a river flowing from the throne room of God. It talks of the tree of life, the bride, and the New Jerusalem. It states in the LAST CHAPTER in the BIBLE that the Spirit and the Bride say "COME!" to God's creation. Couple that with John 14 where Jesus states "In my Father's house there are MANY Mansions and Jesus has prepared a place for you." And the song goes like this,"Like a lazy flowing river, surrounding castles in the sky" Preachers say few there be that enter in taking a scripture out of context in Matthew 7, but the song says, "THE CROWD IS GROWING BIGGER"
Your choice. Listen to the preachers or listen to the music. Do not allow religion to say these songs or for some and not ALL. The word ALL is in the Bible over 5,000 times. The song ends with "Listening for the happy sounds and got to let them fly." Here are just a few of those happy songs...
    "This is Amazing Grace."
    "Reckless Love"
"God will take ALL that is wrong and will make it right."
"You're perfect in ALL of your ways."
"Amazing love! How Can It Be!"
    "Lord of ALL creation"
    "Justice served, Mercy Wins!"
"Grace greater than ALL my sins"
"Our God is an awesome God, He reigns with wisdom power and LOVE!"
In closing if you love God just
LISTEN TO THE MUSIC!.....ALL THE TIME!

    From songfacts.com:

The Doobie Brothers' first hit, this was written by the band's lead vocalist Tom Johnston, who also played guitar on the track. He told us about this song: "It was all based around this somewhat Utopian view of the world. The idea was that music would lift man up to a higher plane, and that world leaders, if they were able to sit down on some big grassy knoll where the sun was shining and hear music - such as the type I was playing - would figure out that everybody had more in common than they had not in common, and it was certainly not worth getting in such a bad state of affairs about. Everybody in the world would therefore benefit from this point of view. Just basically that music would make everything better. And of course I've since kind of realized it doesn't work that way."

Johnston has seen the music industry change dramatically - and for the worse - since he formed The Doobie Brothers in 1970. Watching record companies fail to properly develop artists is an example: The Doobie Brothers' self-titled first album was a flop, but Warner Brothers Records stuck with them, never pressuring them to produce a hit, and The Doobies developed into a very successful Rock band. Radio stations were victims of deregulation and were taken over by large corporations in the '90s. This led to automation and structure that limited playlists and innovation. Then there's the matter of The Internet... Read our full interview with Tom Johnston to learn more.

This song is one of my favorites for its meaning and how we all need music for happiness.
