New Rules Lyrics

One, one, one

Talkin' in my sleep at night
Makin' myself crazy
(Out of my mind, out of my mind)
Wrote it down and read it out
Hopin' it would save me
(Too many times, too many times)
Oh, he makes me feel like nobody else
Nobody...

in context of anything I deemed "unsafe" (NSFMW):

    1. say "no grazie" for any invitation to the unsafe things, cause i know those are just propaganda.
    2. don't join them, cause i had to kick them again.
    3. don't be their followers
    4. and if i fall into them, i quickly retreat and fall back.

This song is about someone who you love and you think they love you back but they just keep breaking your heart over and over again, maybe intentionally or accidentally. You keep forgiving them but you finally realise that he isn't good enough for you so you need to stop letting yourself fall for their tricks so you make up rules to stop heartbreak happening again. Honestly I can relate to this song lmao. Oh well.

After reading all responses, you can say that Dua Lipa’s message is just some advice for girls out there who like a boy, but doesn’t know if the boy likes them. When she says “ I got new rules, I count’em”, this is her stating she has new rules to get over the boy. “But my love, he doesn’t love me...” also shows she knows he does not love her. When she states her rules they all have to do with the boy and how to avoid him.

She's got new rules, she count's em.
Meaning , she is in complete control of the new boundaries/ rules etc in her life and that there changeable at any time. Her rules may vary from one situation to the next. ... oh yeah, she's doing this to get over a breakup . I think anyone who has experienced a breakup would understand this. :)) xx peace out ✌

I'm going to say that she's trying to get over her boyfriend breaking up with her by placing herself some rules on what no to do and making it become a routine in her daily life. and he wants her back in the end so he can break up with her over and over again, and to him its becoming a routine and pattern, in the end for her this ends up working and the same thing has happened to one of her friends so she tells her and the others the routine for when it happens.

I think this song is about getting over someone who was yours or who might not of ever been. She could be in love with a friend or someone she has to be around. She tries to get over him but she can't because every time she thinks she is, he says things which pull her back to wanting him even more. 'I keep pushin' forwards
But he keeps pullin' me backwards'
Even tho she know he don't love him, she can't help but believe the lies he says. 'I finally see the pattern
(I never learn, I never learn)
But my love, he doesn't loves me
So I tell myself, I tell myself
    I do, I do, I do'

Tbh I relate to this song and so this how I look it as like
