Castle On The Hill Lyrics

When I was six years old I broke my leg
I was running from my brother and his friends
And tasted the sweet perfume of the mountain grass I rolled down
I was younger then, take me back to when I

Found my heart and broke it here
Made friends...

I think the song is about how it is to go home again. It's a long time since he's been home, and he's starting to remember. Like when you see your old house and memories starts to flow. I think he's trying to describe the feeling with a song.

This song is about when you have been away from home for a while and you are finally coming home and you're starting to get all the memories of what happened before you left

Well, if there's any way one can take a trip back to the olden youthful-adolescent good days, then here's the song to listen to. Sheeran is remembering his childhood memories, his friends back then.

Sure the song is about young adolescent life. At that moment in time the songs, experiences, ups and downs all are more influential when shared at a time all young teens think are the most important days and times of their lives.
Driving a road, hearing a song, or thinking of a great time in your youth is magnified as the trials and tribulations of adult life heap worry and uncertainty about the future.
The Castle I’m sure is a reference to a special place where they felt protected from prying eyes where they could indulge in drink and smoke and just happened to be in view of a large expensive home they referred to as “The Castle”, which was shared between the group of exclusive friends.
I too remember these days and these people; cheers to you Ed! I too share these special memories which will last until I die.

This is just my interpretation, but I think the song is about how our childhood, the "good old days", make us who we are. He is showing that when he was younger he used to do things with his friends, and even though they aren't friends now and he doesn't do those things anymore with them, he still looks back at them and sees how much he has grown and changed. I think the song is switching between past and present and the bridge of the song where he is talking about where his friends are now is where he connects between the two times. When he sings, "When we do not know the answers" I think he is talking about how he misses when things were simpler. When we are a child, things aren't complicated and the world doesn't seem as big and dark. Overall, I think Ed is putting into words what we all feel sometimes when we remember those memories, good and bad, from our childhood, especially when we go back to places we went to as kids.

Obviously it is a deep song about his childhood about how he had good but bad memories and he is wanting to go home.

1st of all, yeah, I'm procrastinating my homework. 2nd of all, this song is about the childhood memories of Ed Sheeran but I have no idea what he means by the castle. my best guess is that it just meant the stories that got told to him before bed. 3rd of all I really don't know why I'm even saying anything because I'm pretty sure that everybody knows what it means.

This is obviously about his childhood, and what he did in his childhood. It is mixed with good and not so good memories. We all know that there is a place or time where we feel safe and happy, and the place he was born and grew up in was his.

Okay, I know this one. It's about his childhood. Each verse is about a different childhood experience. And I love the chorus. So catchy. Oh, it's YouTube time. I have to go watch Try Not To Laugh videos now. BYEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
