Supermarket Flowers Lyrics

I took the supermarket flowers from the windowsill
I threw the day old tea from the cup
Packed up the photo album Matthew had made
Memories of a life that's been loved
Took the get well soon cards and stuffed animals
Poured the old ginger...

Throughout the song, it says "When God Takes You Back, He'll Say Hallelujah You're Home." And then, at the end of the song, it says "When God Took You Back, He Said Hallelujah You're Home." Meaning that his Grandma/Nana died.

It’s about his grandmum who passed. not an ex. he isn’t taking cheap flowers to his ex. he’s taking the flowers out of her hospital room. it makes my heart ache

It's about his grandmother that passed away before he finished the album, so he wrote a song about her, making his mother talk in the lyrics.

No this song isn’t about his ex. It’s actually about his Grandmother. Unfortunately she passed away and he wrote a song for her to remind everyone how she help him up and was always there for him.

It's such a good song, it is about him losing his grandma. However, when it says 'you were an angel in the shape of my mum' this confuses many. It is written from the point of his mum, as it was her mum who died.

I feel he is dealing with items in his Mother's home after her passing

I think he wrote it for his mum bc he sings "...you're an angel in the shape of my mum..." and I think he menas, that his mum is an angel,, catched in a human body.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This is about Ed's grandmother that had died. So he is writing this song for her
