Nobody Loves You Like I Do Lyrics

You can rent your blues,
Photograph your soul.
You can even dig some diamonds
Out of rock and roll.
You can change the world,

The lyrics to this song were written by Pete Sinfield, who had been in King Crimson with Greg Lake several years earlier.

The song is a comical look at the life of a rich, successful rock star. Right now, the rock star has millions of fans and millions of dollars, and is chased by fans, groupies and reporters wherever he goes. Hence, he can never have a minute's peace... though he's rich enough to buy a secluded mansion where no one can find him. Of course, that's a rather sad and lonely existence.

In addition, the rock star is smart enough to know that fame and success are fleeting. Sure, NOW the public seems to love him, but it's only a matter of time before the fans tire of him, stop wearing his t-shirts and stop buying his records.

So, the rock star WANTS to be cynical. He WANTS to be cynical, to keep fans and arm's length, and to tell himself he doesn't love his fans and he doesn't want or need the fans' love.

Problem is... deep down, he DOES crave the fans' love. And despite his better judgment, he sort of loves them.

The rock star doesn't expect anyone to feel sorry for him. He KNOWS nobody is going to pity a multi-millionaire celebrity. He just finds his own life a bit ridiculous.
