The whole album "Fight Like a Girl," which includes this song, is a concept. It is based off her book, The Asylum For Wayward Victorian Girls. It tells the story of Emilie's alternate personality, Emily, who lives in the Victorian era. Emily is a "lifer" in the Asylum, showing no chance of escape. This song is the second on the album, showing the girls' first (failed) attempt at escaping and defeating the doctors, who do not actually care for the girls, but torture them. "Time For Tea" refers to the inmates seeking revenge in the best way they can: by giving them a taste of their own medicine.
