Saturday Lyrics

I'm good to go
And I'm going nowhere fast
It could be worse
I could be taking you there with me
I'm good to go
But it looks like I'm still on my own

I'm good to go
For something golden
Though the motions I've been going through have...

For this song the music was actually written before the lyrics. Patrick wrote the music because he was graduating and felt like he hadn't done anything with his life so he went to pete to get some lyrics wrote. The line "pete and I" was actually pat and I but patrick doesn't like being called pat and pete hoped no one would notice if he put himself in his own song. Also some of the lines are actually co-written by patrick so ha!Get your facts straight posers

The song does seem to be about suicide, but what I find interesting is that there is no real reason behind it. Pete leaves us that, at least, to figure out on our own (although keeping with the theme of "Take This to Your Grave", it's probably because of that pesty girl that keeps ruining his life). I think the narrotor wants to kill himself becasue he's never truely experienced life ("I read about the afterlife, but I never really lived"). He's been going throught the motions("Though the motions I've been going through have failed"), but hasn't yet found whatever passion drives him to want to excell. He's sick of life just being "normal"("I'm going nowhere fast"), so he decides to end it while he can. He also points out in the begining that there's no point stopping him, that he's got his mind made up and that's that. ("It could be worse, I could be taking you there with me")

You people are fucking nuts, this song is about making it as a band. They play one show, they're so excited they're making it they "Can't sleep in the wake of Saturday" and "these open doors were open ended" because anything could happen. He can't wait until two more weeks, for another Saturday, another show.

The other parts of the song most likely refer to Pete's nervousness that he had about the band right before they hit it big.

Don't know if it changes anyone's interpretation or not, but in the CD case, the lyrics for a particular line read, "Pete and I said goodbye to Astoria with promise and precision." Patrick sings it a bit differently though, obviously.

Okay, so many of these interpretations are inaccurate (well at least partially). This song was actually written by Patrick, although most of the band's lyrics are written solely by Pete, Patrick and Pete both wrote a lot of the lyrics for Take This To Your Grave. If I am remembering correctly Patrick said he wrote this song either right before or after graduating high school because he was feeling inadequate seeing many of his classmates head off in different directions and had brighter futures' head of them. like the line "I'm going nowhere fast" is about him feeling like his future is dim and everything is going to go downhill. After rereading the lyrics, I'm guessing this was written before graduation and "Saturday" is referring to the day of his graduation and "two more weeks" meaning it was in two weeks.

I watched a YouTube video somewhere, when Pete said he wrote this song just after watching the movie 'Twilight' and that the song was based off that.

Astoria is a banquet hall in Arlington Heights, IL. They could have played there years ago. It's also located next door to the Sam Ashs that Pete did a Signing at in like 2007 or 2008.

I like to think this is just a song about being excited to hang out with your best friend on a Saturday and daydreaming about all the cool shit you're going to do together

Astoria is the place that they boys on the movie "The Goonies" are searhing for in their treasure hunt. Pete writes all the songs as Patrick sings, so when first written it said "Patrick and I attacked The lost Astoria with promise and persission." So Pete later changed it to "Pete and I..." so it would sound correct when Patrick is singing it. This song is NOT about suicide!!! If you want to listen to a suicice song listen to "Atavan Halen" from F.U.C.T! Pete tried to kill himself once, and it's very personal. Shows how much you know about the band forreal.

Its very likely about the thrill of playing a show and how they cannot wait until the next, because when you go to a FOB show, they always play Saturday last.

Yeah I think 'Astoria' is probably referencing the gig venue in London, it used to be (before it closed down) a VERY famous venue, if a band played there they had 'made it' kind of.

Also, I think "and I'm coasting on potential towards a wall" could mean he has so much energy and has put so much into it, and the show is the wall, where all the energy has to come out, they have to show how good they are.

"ive read about the afterlife, but ive never really lived more than an hour" could be that he only ever truly feels alive when he is playing a set onstage (with a show being about an hour long).

My interpretation is that you're fighting with your life 'cause the words are, "Though the motions I've been going through have failed and I'm coasting on potential towards a wall at a 100 miles an hour"...

I don't want to bust a bubble but it's Pete and I attacked AND LOST THE STORY not attacked the lost story.

I think the song is about making it as a band aswell, the line where it says "Pete and I attacked the lost Astoria with promise and precision", from what I've gathered the Astoria is a venue in London.

Come on people this song is not about suicide, Pete Wentz did not white the song either. When Patrick sings im good to go that means he is ready to die but hes not going anywhere anytime soon. This song is about getting out of highschool and trying to do somthing fun with their lives. They cant wait for the next Saturday so they can put on another show.

Saturday Video Clip: Pete is a murderer and Patrick is the detective. The card is like a trail that Pete leaves behind after every death. It's trying to tell us that "I know you want to catch me, but the only evidence i'm going to leave behind is this card." Patrick is trying to figure out who did do murder them all. The whole video clip is about Pete And Patrick being the same person. When Patrick hits himself, Pete suddenly feels it. When Pete shoots Patrick (you can see that Pete has no jacket on and Patrick does) then Patrick dies, Pete now has Patricks jacket and vice versa and looks in his jacket and finds a card. He dies and the card lies in his hand.

I kind of agree with the Patrick's graduation theory.
"I've read about the after life but I've never really lived."
He's read about people in college and beyond, but he's just graduation.
The part about Saturday? Now I haven't graduated nor have I been to a graduation, but aren't they on Saturdays?
    "Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended"
On Saturday[graduation perhaps] a bunch of doors, or opportunities, open up for him and his classmates.

    It's just a guess/my interpretation.
