   Perhaps it's a letter that someone is reading after someone close to them has died. It's reminding them that they will still have their memories and that they could never die so in turn the person hasn't really died.

   I think these lyrics are a self awareness of a life lived on the edge and the reality that it will inevitably catch up with the person. So to their loved ones they want them to know they have made their peace with this fact and life isn't always black or white there is a brighter side to the grey zone just know the have no regrets, and to morn for them just don't get stuck in that that abyss of darkness in their sarrow there at peace

   I think it’s about life. When he says “life’s is not a game it’s a song” he’s saying life is full of ups and downs just like in music and not necessarily focusing on the beginning and end like you you would a game. You have highs and lows. Then further more I think when he says “take the best parts of me locked away without the keys” he’s saying never forget the good times no matter what.

   Depression and suicide. Saying goodbye and telling them to remember the good things, not to question why he never discussed his feelings of suicide with them (things locked away) When depressed everything seems grey. When the sun burns out he is no longer alive and the brighter side of grey means he thinks he's going to a better place and they'll reunite in heaven.

   I think it is about someone having to go on a journey or a trip and leave their family, knowing they might not come back. Waiting on the brighter side of grey, I think it a reference to clouds. A lot of people say heaven is in the clouds. Heaven is seen as bright and white and beautiful. Clouds are kind of Grey and he is saying that if I don't make it home, I'll be with you in heart and in heaven, waiting. I love this song. Have a great day!!

   It might be about him leaving his family to go to war but he's telling them he will be waiting on the brighter side of grey, meaning that the brighter side of grey is when he comes back home. "When the lights go down, Know that I am never far away" could mean that when the war comes, he could die, but he will "always be with the family" (In their hearts).

   Someone had a near death experience and got to meet their angels and some loved ones before they came back and they wrote this because many people who have NDE are kind of sad to come back because the after life is so blessed.

    I feel that it is about being deep in addiction, without the knowledge of if he will get out alive. He doesn't know if he will make it to the next day because addiction has that strong hold and it is hard to escape.
