Foo Fighters: Walking After You Meaning
Song Released: 1998
Walking After You Lyrics
dreaming aloud.
Things just won't do without you, matter of fact.
I'm on your back, I'm on your back, I'm on your back.
If you'd accept surrender, I'll give up some more.
Weren't you...

He's her drug. "On your back", like a monkey. In the vid, they can never be together but he is always taunting and she always wants him. If she leaves, he'll draw her back in.

Strange .... Thought it was about heroin addiction.

I agree with Ryan. That's why it was used on the X-files movie soundtrack.
-
Actually, Dave Grohl is a huge X-Files fan. This song was inspired by the relationship between Mulder and Scully. Bittersweet and haunting.

A very sad and beautiful song. The singer is expressing his devotion and his intention of pursuing his love. But he also recognizes the pointlessness of what he's saying. "If you'd accept surrender / I'll give up some more. / Weren't you adored." He's asking, "Isn't it enough?" Obviously it isn't, or he wouldn't be talking about her walking out on him. What's touching about the song is that he recognizes this, recognizes that it's not a healthy relationship and that he's stuck. But he can't do anything about it.
