I Want to Know What Love Is Lyrics

I gotta take a little time
A little time to think things over
I better read between the lines
In case I need it when I'm older
Aaaah woah-ah-aah

Now this mountain I must climb
Feels like a world upon my shoulders
And through the clouds I see...

To me...5his song is communicating....this person is not ready to start a relationship...until they master the one with thierself...they need to love themselves first...they never experienced love...not even as a child...so they never recognized it...nor trust it...when it comes thier way...hense they have lived a lonely life...this person needs understanding & unconditional love...5hey need to be free to say when 5hey are ready to accept love in thier life...they cannot trust...they know this is missing in thier life...but
don't know how to recieve it...a person who is full of love...can cope by being high on life...love should never be effort...they need yo be aware of unregulated love they are freely giving to others...not accepting love being given to them...love is...reciprical...

I had always thought this was a love ballad with a twist. It's a love song about God's love for us.

This song is about someone who lived alone for a long time. He has experienced many relationships and heart-ache. He thinks he has to take a little time to think things over. He needs to understand his life better. He needs to read between the lines. That goes back to understanding life. He might need it when he's older. It will help him live a better life.

Love is very hard, but he must make the climb. Here, you have a metaphor where love is compared to climbing a mountain. If you steadily climb a mountain, you can reach the summit, but it's very hard. He talks as if if feels the world on his shoulder. The world symbolizes intense pressure someone might feel. The world on his shoulder symbolizes the stress he feels in his life.

Then, he says through the clouds he sees love shine.
Here, the sun symbolizes hope that still inhabits his mind. The clouds symbolize him not being able to see what he wants to see in his life - love and happiness. He talks about life getting colder. Here
he compares the hardness of life to going through a hard winter.

He talks about how there's been in heart-ache and pain. He's not sure he can face it, but he has traveled so much in time to try to reach where he wants to be. He doesn't want to give up. And he is talking to someone asks that person to show him.

In the end he says "It looks like love has finally found me." Here, he compares love to a person. Love can't find you. This is a form of personification.

In the song, you have a chorus back that's church-like to give the feeling of someone praying for love and wanting to be filled completely love with love.
