I think the singer might refer to exactly that: a toxic relationship. No matter if towards a friend or bf/gf. He knows about its toxicity but doesn't do much about it. He's talking about spilling guts like a causual thing - so for sarcastic. The audience of death might refer to society (or maybe even family and friends) which is just watching but not doing anything about it. Corpse-killer/devil-sinner/drug-dealer all has a very negative and probably "toxic" meaning or connotation. 'Watch me choke it down so I can throw it up'.. no idea if my thought is right but I just thought that sounds kinda helpless. It hurts (choking down) but you do it anyway because love and also try to show the other one it hurts (by throwing up). Usually in a toxic relationship the other one will simply not care so that would explain the sarcasm by expressing the singer's pain to me. #2 top rated interpretation:So I've listened to this song a lot. When I first heard the whole thing I was like "Holy crap!" I thought it was supposed to be a satanist song or something. But now I'm pretty sure that he is having problems in a relationship. The saying "You got me shaking by the way you're talking" could be saying that the woman (or guy, he could be gay. Who the heck knows!?) is being sarcastic about serious things. sarcasm is a way of talking. Saying he should cut himself or die probably means he is hurt inside. It obviously was made to be somewhat creepy and emo, because it says things like "you could be the corpse and I could be the killer" instead of simply saying they could go together if she/he quits the sarcasm. "Don't mind us just spilling our guts" could be him showing his point on how they keep being modest and sarcastic about bad things. A filthy tongue is sometimes used to describe bad language. So gulping down the bad language (or the sarcasm) then throwing it up means that he is going to be sarcastic back because he learned from you filthy tongue he just gulped up. CREEPY!!! Why do I love this song?!?! Don't know but whatever.

#3 top rated interpretation:He (the singer) is talking about how he's afraid of death but, hence the title, he's totally sarcastic and doesn't actually fear it. He views himself as a terrible person and views death as refuge, which is why they mention suicide so often. However, the lyrics "Don't mind us, we're just spilling our guts/ If this is love, I don't wanna be loved" suggests that another reason why he wants death is that he feels the world is rejecting him. Not exactly a happy song.

Wow, it was fun reading about others' interpretations. Well, mine is more about oneself. It's weird but it's like he's talking to himself, like he's the voice blaming himself for his actions. So basically a music about self-hate. But hey, I think the true magic of this songs is how it resonate with so many people and evokes different emotions and feelings. So, those are my two cents!

it sounds like its about sexual assault. “youve got me shaking from the way youre talking” the assaulter is talking in a sexual manner. “theres no use crying” the victim already knows whats going to happen to them and is trying to accept it so the impact on them isnt so much. “if this is love i dont wanna be loved.”

The song (in my opinion) is about a unhealthy relationship, he basically is singing/talking to the person he has a unhealthy relationship with. Whether it be his lover, ex, mom, dad, or even just a friend, he obviously is sick and tired of they're ways and how things are between them. The singer talks of suicide as a option. Suicide for him most likely would seem better for the him, hence, the situation at hand. And also,the fact that he has self-hatred for himself probably does not help it.

This is probably not the interpretation that was intended, but I see this song as being anti-religious, anti-Christian specifically. A lot of Christian doctrine is fear-mongering, holding hell over people’s heads to control what they do. The singer isn’t afraid of hell, thus “you’ve got me shaking from the way you’re talking” is sarcasm. Cyanide is what killed the congregation in the Jonestown Massacre, therefore the “cyanide surprise” could be something akin to “drinking the koolaid”, blindly giving yourself over to a certain faith, even if it kills you. Words meant to control the singer and beat him down with shame and judgement “will only fuel [his] lungs.” He’s not going to stop rejecting the beliefs forced on him, they’re just giving him more reason to hate them. “Don’t mind us we’re just spilling our guts” could be referring to how churches and religious leaders often care more about their rules being followed than the immediate wellbeing of those who attend. No matter what the singer says, they aren’t listening, only claiming that they are showing him “love” by telling him to change who he is. He is “as bad as it gets” because he is unrepentant. He is “a fate worse than death” because they tell him he’s going to hell. The “audience of death” is the church who demonizes and judges him for disagreeing with them. The singer just wants to be in control of his own life, and get back at the people who have hurt him. He’d rather be the “devil” to punish the hypocrites who claim he’s a sinner

I think it is a little about how he would rather die because of a girl not showing him the right kind of love it is an amazing song and Get Scared is my inspiration to music along with bts. For me he did a really good job writing and creating a very interesting song to me.

This is one of my favorite songs, and the way I see it is being about a not so great relationship and the person who's singing is done. And they're just saying "you can say what you want to me, but it doesn't hurt me. I'll just throw it back at you. I don't want to be manipulated by your words anymore, I am no longer the victim. You come to me nasty, I'll come back even worse."
This is most likely not the actual meaning, but I was recently in a relationship that ended with a nasty message, and afterwards the person kinda kept poking at me in different ways until I said no more, and I kinda found this song somewhat empowering to me.

To me the song is about unrequited feelings for somebody. The singer is madly in love with somebody who does not feel the same way, hence "dont mind us we're just spilling our guts" and hrs saying how obsessed he is with this person, but has ruined his chances of being with them if there were any to begin with; drug/dealer. And that he has been rejected by this person "pollute the room with a filthy tongue/ sticks and stones could break my bones"-but cannot stop being in love witg them regardless "watch me choke it down/ everything you say is like music to my ears." However he knows that gis feelings are bot returned, obviously and this has caused him to feel depressed and suicidal."if I had common sense id cut myself" etc. Ive had a similar experience In my life and this song really got to me during that period

He (the singer) is simply talking about being afraid to die. But, the title "Sarcasm" is saying he is not actually scared of death. But the " don´t mind us, we are just spilling our guts...if this is love, i don´t wanna be loved,you pollute the room with a filthy tongue, watch me choke it down so i can throw it up, don´t mind us, we're just spilling our guts, if this is love, i don´t wanna be hanging by the neck" is indicating he thinks the world is rejecting him. However, a quick summary to the entire song, is mainly how he wants to kill himself. I personally love the song, however I am not suicidal. Thank you!

Wow, I view it a lot differently than others. I see it as a political song. The beginning quote from someone like a pastor, preaching about how anyone who is gay should "Cut themselves or curl up and die." A gay couple (As viewed by the artists) finally make their stand. The first verse is them basically mocking the pastor, saying things like "Oh so anything you say is supposed to fuel my lungs" I.E. give a person reason to live, looking to 'god' while the second verse is the two talking to each other. "You be the drug and I'll be the dealer" in their own way saying they're perfect for each other. The chorus giving a mocking apology to the rest of the people in the church (Or wherever) saying that they're just "spilling their guts" or admitting their own peace. The bridge saying the people might as well lynch mob the two now because they're not changing who they are because some book says they're wrong for being who they are.
I feel this is the best possible interpretation. The song title 'Sarcasm' referring to the sarcastic way the two talk to the pastor/whomever and other people listening in. -
Okay so all he means is that everyone rejects him and he says he's "scared of death" but he's not hense the title "Sarcasm". Or it's just about suicide. Luv this song tho. <3
