O Green World Lyrics

O green world,
Don't desert me now
Bring me back to fallen town
Where someone is still alive

Fighting for something new in this
When no one needs the heart of me and I'll
Get out somewhere other than me before...

(than me...

I think it's about the pollution in the world, like you know the world was so green, and we are polluting it. I dont think its about drugs but why do we just ask everyone from Gorillaz and see what they think?

This song is mostly about pollution and how it affects this world.

the song is about a dead town or even the dead world, the singer (2D) is singing of how he misses the beautiful and vibrant Green world.

I feel this because the theme of the album is war an corruption so it fits well.

Green world is a land of plenty, it's vibrant, it's alive.

He (or it) is being taken away, and he wants to go back to some place that has fallen (from God's favor?) where there is still life and vibrancy.

He's trying to create something new where he is now, but when his heart (his core, his center of being, who he is as a person) he is going to get somewhere other than himself (out of his head?) and actually do something before... (he is killed, everything is taken from him?)

The green world has kicked him out and he feels that it doesn't deserve him, he's become bitter toward it, but he recognizes they are made of the same things (both vibrant and alive), "but where are we?" (could be a reference to their status, like are they actually both alive even? Are they in a desirable place or an unpleasant one? Is this somewhere they should want to be?)

The next stanza I'm not really sure about. The "stars" seem to be "talking" or communicating with them somehow (God maybe, something with authority?), Anyways the stars seem to be trying to convince them of something but they're lying, and the speaker gives a hypothetical, that they're "down when you're in fast". Perhaps they're making a judgment to quickly and are going to be worse for it, or living in "fast times" and are going down because they care so little?

The speaker says that the Green world is in love, and they are both familiar with each other, and stresses their familiarity with a repeat of the phrase instead of a new line. So maybe the speaker was long part of this vibrant thing and he's done it many times.
Also in this stanza he says he wants drugs and sex to rust into him, rust happens over time, so he wants to keep having sex and doing drugs, he wants those things to stay a part of him and not leave his life.
He goes on to say how it feels like a holy experience, it's grand, awe inspiring and intoxicating him into it. It feels like your with your Father in the place you love (in Heaven with God, to emphasize how grandiose this "holy feeling is")

    tl;dr
Sooooo.... basically he's probably talking about drugs, especially in the last half.
Something he loves (the drugs i guess) are being taken from him, and he feels like their a core, essential part of him, he has done them a lot, wants to keep them and they make him feel fantastic.

"o green world dont desert me now"
means he loves life if it deserts him...then he died
"bring me back to fallen town where someone is still alive"
opposes what he just said fallen town is earth, where some one is still alive

he's saying that he's dead but he dont want to be
keep in mind gorillaz is not a down to earth band anyway
but thats what makes them cool
