Dreaming in Deja Vu Lyrics

In my youth I chose a quiet way,
You were there and passed me everyday.
You always made it so easy,
But I can't go back and you won't come back.
All my nights I take a bed of sand.
And that day I would have called your name and taken your...

This song is about a relationship, a REAL relationship. A REALLY BEAUTIFUL ONE. most applicable for a man-to-woman relationship, about one that's been broken but is still there because of a significant event happening to the singer's love, mostly likely to never see her again, or death.

The song hints this because she's in his dreams, all he has in this senseless touch, these lyrics reinforce my point:

"But I can't go back, and you won't come back!"

The man spends his days thinking about her, remembering the times he had with his true love. These dreams come back...and come back...and come back... he's Dreaming in Deja Vu.

In his youth, he chose a quiet way, hinting he always kept to himself, but when she was there, she always made it so easy for him to deal with his problems and let go. She was there for him. She was his therapy. She was his true love.

"On that day I would've called your name and taken your hand."

He either lost her by choice he regretted...or just letting her slip out of his arms...or something much bigger than him that he couldn't stop. It sounds so easy for him to reach out and pretend that she's real and still with him in his dreams, but it's not.

In his head, she's still calling...but he's chasing something imaginary.
His mind can't get over her. He's lost without her. And his mind is so attached to her he spends nights on his "bed of sand", conveying that he's lost without her. He just needs something, just one last sight of her. It's driving him insane, because this fake inner love, it's not enough. It's like a never ending itch that's stuck with him.

He remembers his last night with her. As he lays to rest, he sees the beautiful electric blue sky, his last memory with her. Then after the daylight, he goes to dream away in Deja Vu.

Approaching the end of the song, he's sick of this nothingness...she was his everything... he's dying inside. And he's dying alone.

He just lays there... waiting... dying...dying alone. He finally accepts that she's not with him anymore...but still he's just condemned to lay there...to lay alone.

I can relate to this song very well because a very similar, if not the exact thing happened to my best friend, which is explained in the song lyrics. It's as if the song was made for him, it fits too well. However this doesn't mean he just spends his days thinking about her and doing nothing, he does what would want to do for her - live for her. If this his happened to you too, from that person who was REALLY your one and only... remember...she would want you to live in a good way (not good as in stupid like yolo)
    But a happy life.

Dreaming in Deja Vu is about a world of mindless zombies who are fed crappy music on a daily basis and one band who went against the flow to save a rock-deprived generation.
