   It very well could be about John cash and George Jones. Who lived through a fast pace life who both had women who rescued them. The two gents both were guilty of doing no shows and been sued. johnny and June definitely played a important role in Hank Jr life. This song is one of Hanks greatest.

   I think this song by Hank Williams was written to his second wife, Billie Jean. Because they married in 1952 and he died in 1953, at the age of 30. The lyrics, “Hey baby I love you, Hey baby I need you” refer to her.
