Meet Me In The Hallway Lyrics

2,3,4
Meet me in the hallway
Meet me in the hallway
I just left your bedroom,
Give some morphine.
Is there anymore to do?

Just let me know
I’ll be at the door,at the door.
Hoping you’d come around.
Just let me know
I’ll be on the...

    [Meet me in the hallway
    Meet me in the hallway]
    - could perhaps be referencing a middle ground, a compromise of opinions perhaps. the hallway could mean a middle - as in an option that satisfies both parties of the relationship.
    [I just left your bedroom
    Give me some morphine]
    - an activity in the bedroom has caused immense pain to the writer. this perhaps could be where the break up has occurred, and it is their last time of seeing eachother.
[Is there any more to do?]
    - hinting at a sense of desperation. the writer is desperate to save what has been broken, and is blaming himself, asking 'what else can i do?'

[Just let me know I'll be at the door, at the door
    Hoping you'll come around]
    - the writer is saying he will be waiting for the opposite party in the relationship to change his/her mind.
[Just let me know I'll be on the floor, on the floor
    Maybe we'll work it out]
    - implication here is that the writer still has hope, and intends to hold on to this.
[I gotta get better, gotta get better
I gotta get better, gotta get better
I gotta get better, gotta get better
And maybe we'll work it out]
    - the writer is blaming himself. by saying 'gotta get better', he's essentially saying he needs to improve himself in order to save the relationship.

For the sake of clarity, I'm gonna assume the writer/speaker is Harry.

Firstly, Harry appears to be in pain as he demands morphine which suggests that instead of healing (/fixing the issue that is causing him pain), he is instead looking for a way to numb the hurt as if any attempt at correcting the situation is futile. It also connotes addiction and could perhaps be referencing the somewhat unhealthy relationship between Harry and the other person as he seems so dependent upon them.

The line, "I just left your bedroom" implies Harry has just been with whoever the song is directed towards; perhaps the pain he is referring to is the absence of the other person since they have just parted, which is supported in the concept of meeting in a hallway as if they want to spend as much time as they can together and their separation huts him. The morphine could also be representing the person themselves, and how they are ridding Harry of his pain.

He is also shown as hopeful, hence: "Just let me know I'll be at the door, at the door/Hoping you'll come around" which could either be Harry claiming he will wait at his own door in case the other shows up or expressing his eagerness to return to the other person if they change their mind, with "come around" meaning to concede or be persuaded to Harry's point of view.

The imperative phrase, "Just let me know" shows that the other person is the one in control and with power over the situation, perhaps the one to end the relationship.

"I'll be on the floor," suggests a rather pessimistic view of the future from Harry's perspective, showing his desperation and how weak he feels in the other's absence, implying that they make him strong. In fact, the One Direction song, 'Strong' seems to fit quite appropriately with this one and since 'Strong' appears to reference his suspected relationship with Louis Tomlinson, it would lead me to believe that this does also.

It could be argued that this is also hinted to in the lines "We don't talk about it/ It's something we don't do". This may be suggesting that they are still in regular contact but that there is a lot that goes unspoken, which links to most of the lines in 'Two Ghosts' which is also speculated to be about Louis. Another interpretation of this line is that the two are continuing to be in a relationship - or at least having secret little rendezvous in the hallway - since it is in present tense but that it is an unspoken agreement. Maybe this is because they know each other well enough to understand each other without needing to discuss it, however it could be due to shame or embarrassment.

Furthermore, the uncertainty of their predicament is expressed in the line, "Maybe we'll work it out" perhaps showing Harry's denial and reluctance to accept that a relationship is over or simply that the two have encountered an issue but he still remains hopeful of resolving it.

The writers use an extended metaphor of illness to represent the pain Harry is feeling after having parted ways - whether geographically or in the termination of a relationship. This is portrayed through the mention of morphine combined with the line "I gotta get better" which also suggests a toxicity to their relationship. This could be simply unrequited love which one might infer from the pronoun "I" suggesting that the his love and/or pain is not reciprocated. It could also refer to Harry being overly reliant upon the other person as he describes the pain similarly to withdrawal and hints at addiction as I mentioned previously. Even in the last verse this is shown in the lines, "'Cause once you go without it/ Nothing else will do".

Nonetheless, the lyrics are powerful and portray a fierce passion throughout. Harry depicts a vigorous love through the desperation and emptiness that accompanies the lack of it in this beautifully crafted account that contrasts greatly to the blur of shallow pop lyrics that overshadow much of today's music.

I think Harry is using a drug addicion as a metaphor for the pain of breaking the habit of being with the person who broke up with you. He wants to get back with her just like an addict want the drugs. He ends with "once you go without it nothing else will do" because its the most emotional and working comparison. Once you go without "that one person" or the drug, no other drug or person will help you get around it.

This song is about Harry's lover leaving him. As a diehard Zarry believer I feel like Zayn left him in the hallway before departing forever from the band. We know they fought four days before Zayn left and Harry got drunk "into a semi-poetic stream of consciousness" as told by a reporter who met him back in 2015. He is pleading Zayn to come back to him and fix their "relationship".

its about meeting someone in the hallway. the song title = meet me in the hallway represents that he wants to meet/is meeting someone in the hallway. sometimes, you don't have to over analyze songs; the meaning is in the song title.

Harry’s. Father is dying of Cancer. “ Is there any more” we can do to stop the Cancer ? Just let me know and I’ll be there at your door. But father is dying ... it’s cancer after all. But the family may meet in the hospital hallway, it they don’t talk abut dying—- Death is looming , but through dread , pity, anger, tears, they don’t talk about it .

I think the song is about Louis, his bandmate. It seems it was a very complicated and addictive, dependent relationship/or close physical, maybe sexual friendship. Louis had his own friends on tour and also had a fling with a woman after he broke up with his longtime girlfriend in 2015. This produced a child. Discussions of the band taking a break happened previously but this was Harry’s breaking point. Perhaps Harry’s love for Louis consumed him and he couldn’t talk about his true feelings, for fear of losing Louis altogether. Louis felt the same but was more pragmatic about his confusing feelings, brushing them off when convenient. Harry must have felt very alone on tour because he couldn’t talk about his feelings or his anxiety... needing male companionship and comfort. Louis swallowed his feelings as well. The tensions and resentment grew on the inside but on the outside they acted cordial as if nothing physical, romantic, or emotional happened between them. Harry tried to move on with others, models, women but nothing else would do what Louis did for him. Psychologically, you could tell that Harry and Louis really depended upon each other, initially, in the band but needed to grow up and find their own sense of identity. Although Harry realized this ( I gotta get better), it was also very painful for him and scary to have Louis make him fend for himself on the road. Perhaps Harry chose to be alone because it was easier than communicating. After he said the band should take a break, Louis resented Harry because he felt that it could potentially be the end of the band.

I think the whole album is about Harry & Louis and both of them are protecting each other, because they both know they caused the 'Larry' conspiracy themselves. Not the fans.

Its common that the first solo album is going to be about 'what he or she has gone through' the first solo album is the personal one.

There are thousands of photos that are fake, I am aware of this. But there are a few that are genuine

i think the song is about loosing someone due to death. it makes sense when he refers the the morphine because of the amount of pain that one goes though while they are dying. he wants to numb their pain for he can finally numb his pain. when he says meet me in the hallway its like waiting outside the door of a hospital room if they ever need something he will be there for them. i think it means that because of something personal that i went through. the song to me isn't about breakup but a different heart break that someone goes that just has to do with lose and grief.

It is known that Harry and Louis used to meet in the hallway before/after/even in the middle of interveiws, even if they were supposed to be in the interview denying Larry.
It was kind of their little secret means of comfort, saying they would meet each other in the hallway where they didnt have to hide, they would be out and away from the media, free to comfort and love each other.

When it says "Give me some morphine, is there any more to do" It appears to be a reference to Harry metaphorically needing painkillers to go on denying his love and hiding all the time, is there any more interviews or lying he has to do?

"Just let me know I'll be at the door" If they said "meet me in the hallway, that's all they would have to let each other know to exit and be there for each other.

He then turns sadder, saying he hopes the person will even come to the hallway to meet Harry anymore, saying he will be on the floor, but still hoping they could work it out. He is saying things have to get better, and he has to get better, and then he hopes they can work it out. It is speculated that this relates to when H and L were rumored to have broken up after they both seemed quite sad and distant on the band's 4th trip to Australia. Harry even said in an interview there his self esteem had been lowering, this line could be a reference to that too, saying he has to get better and feel better about himself, and THEN they can start trying to work out the relationship that ended.

"I walked the streets all day,Running with the thieves, Cause you left me in the hallway" Could be a reference to after the split, Harry ma have turned to others or flings, trying to kindle a romance elsewhere, complying with the rumor-starters and thieves that are the media in his image, all because he is broken that his love left him in the hallway, and left him altogether.

He then goes back to saying he will still be there for L and meet him in the hallway if he ever needs him, and he still hopes they can get better and rework things out.

In the end he says "We don't talk about it, it's something we don't do. Cause once you go without it, Nothing else will do" This is similar to the reference H makes about L in Sweet Creature where he shares that in the past it has been difficult for them to talk through things due to their mutual stubbornness, it's something they don't do. Going without louis by his side, he realized nobody or nothing could ever take his place.

Harry Styles's meet me in the hallway represents him leaving his ex but he wants his ex to ask him to stay. He is referring to meet me in the hallway as for them to ask him to stay and to not leave. He also wants for them to open up to him. Whenever he said " cause you left me in the hallway " , his ex abandoned him in his time of need. He wants to take the pain away with the morphine (from the beginning of song) because he is hurt that they have left him when he needed them the most.
