Boomerang is pretty simple. Someone went through a rough relationship, and they’re having trouble letting go and moving on. This is what happens when you truly love somebody, but your relationship is rocky. That’s where the line “you’re my boomerang” comes in. You try to let them go, move on, and forget, but you can’t. You’ll always go back to them, and they’ll always come back to you no matter what you’ve done to eachother. Because this is true love: “Just because it isn't easy doesn't mean that it is wrong”. I’ve had this happen before. I loved somebody with all my heart, and then our relationship crumbled due to their religion. (It was “forbidden love” I guess you could say.) I tried to forget them and move on, but I couldn’t. I can’t tell you how lonely and angry and miserable I was. I cried almost every night. Eventually, I realized that I couldn’t move on, couldn’t let go, couldn’t forget, because I truly loved them. So, I went back to them and told them exactly what I thought. I told them that this was bullshit, that I loved them, that I needed them in my life. They had been born into their religion, and I told them that I understood they were afraid to give it up for somebody, even if they loved them. But I asked them this, “What do you know is right in your heart? Letting a religion tell you how to live your life, who you can or cannot be with? Or being true to yourself and staying with the person you love?” They came back to me, my “boomerang”. We’ve been together ever since, through the highs and lows. And I’m happy again.
