Are You In? Lyrics

It's so much better
When everyone is in
Are you in?
It's so much better
When everyone is in
Are you in?
Ooh ooh
Are you in?
You ooh
Are you in?
It's so much better
When everyone is in
Are you in?
It's so much easier
When sea foam...

You know that Brandon loves to troll! I’d say that those guys have the last laugh when it comes to the interpretation of this song. They have such a brilliant sense of humour, of course with a little herbal influence too, coupled with their incredible spirituality and connectedness to higher thoughts.

Guys, this song's meaning is right in front of our faces. It's actually about not following the crowd in an attempt to find happiness, and going your own way. Incubus IS a very spiritual band as someone stated earlier; narrow is the way, Jesus once said.
Don't believe me? Look at the lyrics this way:

    "It's so much easier:
    When everyone is in,
    R-U-N."

    Run! Haha

i simply think that its just about a group of people who are having a good time and are asking people to join the fun i dont think it would be about drugs cause the singer has done drugs but he is very health con sense

Seafoam green might be a nod to Nirvana's All Apologies.....

The song is talking about mentality. Its so much easier when chivalry is in fashion. When everyone is in that mentality life is easier. Not about weed or orgy's, listen to incubus, they are a very deep band. Most of their songs are about spirituality.

Yes, I think I recall the interview... interviewer asked if it referred to group sex and he said yes. Possibly those who think the sea foam green references weed could be on the money:
It's so much better (the orgy) if everyone is in... (more the merrier, lol)
It's so much easier (lowers inhibitions, maybe) when sea foam green (marijuana) is in fashion (ie everybody's doing it/wants to do it)

Love the song, my kids do too and sing along... can def wait for the day they grow and realise what it means and get grossed out that their mother loves it (and Brandon Boyd, sorry dad)

Could easily be both, aren't orgys and ecstasy synonymous? ha

I think it is about ecstasy. At the Morning View concert, Incubus had a screen up in the background that played animation, etc.. During "Are You In", the screen showed a profile view of a skeleton. The skeleton had a pill in his hand, threw it in his mouth, slammed a glass of water, and then started doing backflips.

Did anyone else see this show??

I agree with the first one, marijuanna. "sea foam green" everyone knows that the best stuff is a bright green color.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I read in a magazine interview with Brandon Boyd that this song is indeed about an orgy.

This song is about smoking marijuana. They are asking you if your "in" as in smoking marijuana. This is what the band meant to express, because all the members of Incubus are very pro-marijuana. And also a great song to listen to have a bowl.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
