    I think its that both people know its not working anymore and they need to let it go and move on but don't want to, they want to be together and for it to work but deep deep down they know it wont ever work like that.

    I'm not going to offer my interpretation I am living this exact reality right now.

    There is literally no better fitting song on Earth at the moment for me.

    Word for word verse for verse meaning for meaning even all of your interpretations are spot on.

    Oh what the hell I suppose my interpretation is it hurts like hell letting someone you still love go and they still love you but knowing that all of your attempts have failed all paths lead to the same dead end.

    I find myself still having hope down the road while knowing I have to make this move even if it doesn't mean for now but forever.

    I miss the moments time would inexplicably stop when I looked at her.(I mean that literally!!!)

    We tried and failed for the last year the first four-six months were something we've never experienced ABSOLUTE BLISS

    A year-and-a-half ended with holding each other about an hour ago.

    This song came on the radio the moment I started the car to drive her home.

Literally biting, throwing litter across floor, figurative slamming doors with each other, watching evening shows (tele together...)...

    My interpretation is that at the beginning everything was great. Doing what normal couples do. Watching movies, staying up late and talking about dreams, being nervous around each other etc. The delusion he is talking about I think is the delusion of what was. How they were before is not how it is now and it’s only holding them back. The reality is the fighting and constant belittling. They aren’t who they could be with each other, that’s why he says you be you and I’ll be me. They are so unhappy that they can’t recognize who they even are anymore. Trying to keep things going isn’t working, but it’s hard to let go when you really care about someone. Trying to fit your hand inside mine but it just doesn’t feel right, trying to push the relationship up hill but it’s just too heavy to hold. This song represents that he knows its hard and they have been trying to fit together even though it won’t work. Something has to change, they need to let it go.

    I️ think this song shows how broken the two ppl are with each other and yet he is still broken without her but he knows it’s right to let her go. Like someone else said leave the broken pieces where they are and carry on because they are two different ppl when they are together and aren’t good for each other
